Integration in Firefox Search Bar (11 Jul 2008)I created something similar for Notes.Net searches; the files can be of great help as a basis for IdeaJam search, it's not that hard: { Link } Works in FF/IE7. |
Support UIDoc Refresh from an Embedded View (27 May 2008)I wrote a little article that presents a possible workaround. See if it can help... --> { Link } |
Integrate Dojo/AJAX objects into Domino Designer (08 Jan 2008)I also demote because of the restrictions it would give us. I like the fact that there's freedom in web development, to have different approaches and tools that we don't have when we develop in the Client. |
ideaJam.gov? (07 Jan 2008)What we had in Belgium with the (gouvernement) elections was a site where a number of statements were made (f.e. do you want trucks to drive less than 80km/h), then you could give your opinion (yes/no), and after that the party that represents your opinions best is shown, together with percentage, also for the other parties (2nd, 3rd,...). It was even possible to do a review of all questions and the respective answers by the parties itself. That way we got a good view of what the different parties are standing for and what party resembles most our opinions. |
Better color management (26 Dec 2007)Hi Basir, Computed colors are possible for columns, no? And with css it should be possible to adjust background colors of tables too, I guess (but I never really tested it). |
Rounded Corner tables (21 Dec 2007)@Greg, I saw that post, it only tells how to create rounded corners. And for the web, there are tons of techniques for this. In the Notes Client, it's not possible without some tricks. |
Include Form as a launch option in the database properties (20 Dec 2007)I use a page with a html redirect on it. But you're right, this should be possible (for web applications). |
Rounded Corner tables (20 Dec 2007)Here's my post about the rounded corners: { Link } |
Rounded Corner tables (20 Dec 2007)This is so strange... I was planning to make a blog about it this evening, because I felt I could make this work in the client. I did some research yesterday, found Ben's post, and started thinking about alternatives. To be continued. |
Ability to embed multiple (HTML) views on a Page/Form (18 Dec 2007)Why somebody would "thumb it down"? Perhaps that somebody is the programmer responsible for the development of that feature? :-) |
Ability to embed multiple (HTML) views on a Page/Form (18 Dec 2007)... or you could try some Ajax to show multiple views? |
Top Ideas in the Sidebar: We need your input (13 Dec 2007)I also have the feeling there's something happening with the ideas. When I launch a new idea, it sometimes gets votes fast, so you get the feeling this is a good one. And then it stops. It disappears somewhere in the mass, because it's not in the recent list. It's like having a potential hit, but it gets no airplay. I like Ulf's idea on how to solve them, at least new ideas could be saved that way (it won't digg up the older ones, however: once buried, always buried :-)) Another note to Bruce: "Let's use Idea Jam to build Idea Jam" - in my opinion you're not using IdeaJam as it should here, basically you wanted a discussion thread here, you don't really want is to vote. Voting has no point here. Maybe a good idea to have the possibility of creating "voteless" ideas, brainstorm corners. But then again, I should have posted this in a new idea ;-). Anyway I will promote your idea here. No real reason why, just for fun :-). |
Adding a bookmark in the client = adding it in Designer (10 Dec 2007)I see... well, I agree there must be a better way of how bookmarks work. I only wonder: do you guys have any ideas on how this could work? What it would look like? |
Adding a bookmark in the client = adding it in Designer (10 Dec 2007)This hurts, Paul :-). Would you reconsider the idea if I combined it with better maintainable bookmarks? Because I also think bookmarks in both Designer and Client are not wat they should be... |
RSS feed of the ideas only (07 Dec 2007)... maybe you can just add an extra argument to the agent so that it knows it only has to show the ideas, not the comments? It doesn't really has to be visible on this site, if we just know the syntax, that's allright. |
RSS feed of the ideas only (07 Dec 2007)Hi Bruce, Close... (sorry I'm such a hard nut to crack ;-) ) but what about the look-and-feel? Can it be adjusted? You'll notice in the screenshot I use a particular font and background color. With RSS as in my idea it would just fit. |
RSS feed of the ideas only (07 Dec 2007)No, I'd like to add my own ideas in the sidebar. A bit vane, I know ;-) |
Table enhancemnts (06 Dec 2007)Some good points here! Meanwhile this might help with the borders issues: { Link } |
Designer Help - distinguish between LotusScript AND Java help documents (04 Dec 2007)I don't know... then you need to make a difference between LotusScript and Formula as well. As Kerr indicates, "AND LotusScript" does the same. Also, I'm not very much into Java myself, but I don't want to protect myself from seeing some Java now and then, perhaps it makes me want to use it more often if I see it more :-) |
Change 'Printer Driver' from Lotusscript (30 Nov 2007)Ok, I see your point. You convinced me in redrawing my vote :-) |
Drag and drop Notes documents (29 Nov 2007)Agree! I would like to add to that: drag-and-drop support in Lotus Notes seems so arbitrary. F.e. try the following: - select some pictures in Explorer - drag them to image resources - an icon with a (+) sign appears, giving the impression the images will be added here - let go the mousebutton - watch in the library: nothing was added Duh? |
Change 'Printer Driver' from Lotusscript (29 Nov 2007)Theo, I don't recall seeing this in any software tool out there (but of course, this doesn't mean it can't be done here). But I see tons of obstacles: you would have to detect if a printer is available, cross-platform (as you said yourself), what if the name changes etc etc. If the main purpose is creating pdf's, there should be native support for that in Notes. |
New checkbox property on computed text: Convert to static text when forwarded, mailed or copied (29 Nov 2007)Knud, This is a better idea, or, a better rephrased version of your former idea (the one with the "sticking" computed values). You got my vote! :-) |
Sort subs and functions in alfabetical order in the object pane (29 Nov 2007)Hi Rob, Strange... I was thinking of making this myself in exactly the same way :-). Never planned to share this somewhere? |
Add a second level of prioritization - IdeaJam Dollars (28 Nov 2007)I don't agree with adding more factors. The beauty of the tool is it's simplicity: it's easy to vote just by clicking a button. If we add other fields to it, it will take more time, get less voters that are interested in submitting. Compare it to a subscription form where you only need a username and a password, and one that asks for all kinds of information. I don't like to do a lot of input for this kind of applications. |
Set default style for form widgets (27 Nov 2007)Agree, and Designer has the irritating habit of loosing styles after copying too (you know, when fields go back to "Default sans serif" and they turn red). Hidden fields are in red overhere (and this is so for a lot of Developers I believe), so why do they become black after a cut/copy-paste? |
IdeaJam.net developers host BoF (27 Nov 2007)Agree! I'd love to see some information about the creation shared, but I would also understand if they consider it their baby... |
Give attendees a DVD/USB with all presentation PDFs on it (26 Nov 2007)What's so hard about doing this? When I attended Lotus Developer 2007 from The View, every attendee got a cd with the pdf's of all sessions and democode bundled in a Notesdatabase. Yes, it can be spread around. Yes, non-attendees can take a look at it. In practice, if you weren't in a session, it's often not that easy to pick it up without some context (so being there is necessary to get the most out of it). |
Virtual Reality - Lotus Notes Providing Charts Fecility (24 Nov 2007)devi, I saw the screenshots from the charts IdeaJam is going to use, and I believe they use FusionCharts. Some weeks ago I wrote an article on how-to about this tool: see { Link } |
Subs and functions in alfabetical order in the object pane (23 Nov 2007)And the LS classes not in a big pile in Declarations. While we are at it :-) |
Move HTML signature into mailfile (23 Nov 2007)I demoted, because I believe HTML signatures don't work well in Notes. Css is not well supported, html so-and-so and the result is a signature that looks different in other mail programs. So, first things first: this has to be improved and if it's not possible, HTML signatures should work in a complete other way, not by appending them to a mail message when composing them, f.e. |
Improve notes.net forums (23 Nov 2007)Bruce, Maybe you find it a little off-topic, but notes.net forums are used by a lot of us and they are notes related. I started the same kind of threat on Notes.Net itself: { Link } |
Better color management (23 Nov 2007)Hi Mark, I know, I did some research before posting this :-). I like the idea that is in SuperNTF, but I would prefer it to be a separate database. Also, I have some ideas on what could be added as extra features. One day... ;-) |
Full DXL round-trip (22 Nov 2007)I created a tool that uses DXL to import/export view designs (see { Link } and there are indeed some restrictions: some attributes don't even exist, so information gets lost when doing the roundtrip. For most of these I could find a workaround, but it's a pitty this is necessary. |
Option to display field names in a document (22 Nov 2007)Well... I partially agree. Could be core, could be 3rd party, but at least it can be a handy add-on. If it's a good idea, it doesn't really matter ;-) |
Create CSS functionality for views and forms in Notes (22 Nov 2007)I created an open source tool that can provide a similar experience: Viewnify - you can find more info here: { Link } |
