Idea:

When you open an email, whether received internally or externally it would be great if all the attachment/s were positioned in a pane at the top of the email (I believe Outlook does this and DWA does it but puts at the bottom which I'm ok with). I am sick of scrolling to the bottom of long emails to find the attachments and sick of end users complaining to me about it.

Comment: I too am with the "show them in both places" crowd. I think it should be configurable for top or bottom (some users might like it at the bottom). Though just at the top is fine - but in line attachments are great too!

Idea:

Many end users don't understand the difference between Open and Edit and users who are now on version 7 or 8 are still Opening attachments and doing a Save As if they edit it in it's original program. I tell them to consider the Open as similar to opening a Read Only file. Apparently Outlook has only the option of Edit. Either remove the Open option or change it to Read Only.

Comment: As Edit introduces different technology than Open, it would require a lot of re-coding that is unnecessary. Many of my clients *love* the Edit option, and understand the Open option, as they have used it for years. There is no perfect solution.

If a user accidently deletes a folder which is very easy to do, allow them to restore from Trash, as they can with mail.

Comment: I promote this idea... BUT I would have a "show them in both places" option...

reason... sometimes I send tables via Lotus Notes. And add a description in one column and the file in another column. If these attachments would be moved into another section from my mail I would lost this option.

It drives me nuts that everytime I go into the registration dialog box that I have to click Advance, pls have selected by default or always show advanced options, why wouldn't you?

When you right click you can Delete All and Save and Delete All, it would be great if I could Open All or Edit All.

Comment: From the admin perspective, I would prefer this not be added to the client, as it would open a (very small) opportunity for end users to launch a malicious attachment they would not have otherwise launched if considering each attachment separately. I'm also leery of the support issues when several "what app do you want to use to open this file?" windows open at once.

What I do think would be a great idea, though would be a "View All" command. This would provide close to the same level of functionality, but be managed by a single app, which could do a better job of (a) security and (b) error management.

Idea:

The set/modify parameters for notes.ini settings is very clunky and not intuiative, can this be updated. The fact that there are so many ways to edit the notes.ini is a concern I think this whole area needs to be streamlined and more transparent.

Comment: The server console is at least intuitive and consistent for this, but could be slightly enhanced...it also does allow copy/paste. For config documents, it does need an upgrade. In the short-run, maybe the console will help you.

Idea:

When you use the validate internet address tool, it only tells you whether the were any that were not unique, or rather how many were not. Surely it could return a list of the ones that are not unique.

Comment: Although I completely agree, you could write an Admin view to do that in a local replica/copy of the directory, which depending upon the size of your organization would require you to take your lunch break when reindexing. But it's thought...

Comment: I'm all for having a list of attachments somewhere nice and visible but not at the cost of removing them from the flow of the document. This would destroy one of the strengths of Notes, the integrated document where comments can be made right next to the thing I want to comment. I like Kevins idea, especially if it's available to any application.

it would be great to be able to see before I open an email if in a view/folder if a return receipt has been requested.

Side Note: I don't believe you should prevent return receipts from being sent, I just want to see clearly via an icon if a return receipt was requested.
