I know quite a few Lotus Partners who do their presentations on WebX or GoTo Meeting. I ask them: "why don't you use Sametime?" The answer is always the same; too difficult for someone to weed through the Java and application downloads. I know sametime Unyte is good for this, but it is only a hosted service. i want to be able to leverage my Sametime Web Conferencing asset to the outside world for sales and product demos, just like WebX.

I am really confused by this one? Do you mean easier for users or easier to install and configure?
How is setting up a Sametime server just for webconferencing difficult? It certainly is pretty easy to use these days...

Stuart. First, I agree that setting up a server is fairly straightforward and relatively easy. We use Sametime web conferencing internally all the time. Often, it installs without fail and the individual is up and running. But try to do it with a customer for a product demonstration that has never used it before and its a different story. If you compare it to WebX, GoToMeeting or Sametime Unyte, Sametime Web Conferencing is difficult for the user to install. I just had an experience with a customer in California that was disastrous. He just couldn't get the software to install. I had to use GoToMeeting; he was up and running in a matter of minutes. It's not just me that sees this. Call some of the big Notes/Domino product houses and you will see them using something other than Sametime WC. (Sametime Unyte is pretty nice, it needs NO software to run.) I will admit that we probably haven't got it set up perfectly, but even then, its no match for the commercial programs that are designed for sales presentations and meetings with individuals who have never used the software. If you don't believe me, call someone who has never used it and try to set up an online meeting with them.
