In several recent projects I've found that many non-technical folks have a hard time dealing with "what an application does/what it's for" independently of "how it works/what it looks like".
Tech folks tend to think they're simplifying things for the target user by the kind of explanation this video does so well. I'm starting to think it's not as effective as we imagine.
For at least a significant portion of the target market I think it would be more effective if you combined the "what and why" with more "how" -- screen shots and a bit of work flow.
