Notes Client / Other: Select which sources the "Recent Contacts" feature gets its contacts.

Author: Chris Mobley
Tags: Recent_Contacts
Idea:

I would like the abiltiy to configure the "Recent Contacts" feature to tell it where to draw contacts from. I get entries in the Recent Contacts and I have no idea where they are coming from, and it is messing up my addressing. It is introducing more chances of erroneous addressing.

Example:

Pull Recent Contacts From:

    x Personal Contacts

    x Public Directories

    x Sent emails

         Received emails

         Archives

    x Chats

This is a ficticious list. I really don't know all the sources of Recent Contacts. I can't find where this is documented.

Notes Client / Mail: Send funtion Should not Point to Recent Contacts

Author: Deb Carpenter
Tags: Personal_Address_Book Mail Notes_Client Recent_Contacts Contacts
Idea:

Release 8 has a new feature on the type-ahead for email addresses. It records email addresses on all those received and sent in the new view, "Recent Contacts", located in the Personal Address book. It is nice to have the type-ahead feature which gives you a history dropdown, similar to URL addresses in a browser. However, we have been seeing issues with this feature and have had to turn it off. Storing recent contact addresses has a similar affect of storing company email address in your contacts. If AdminP has to process a name change, it cannot change anything in a user's Personal Address book. Additionally, if a user types in the complete address using all lower case and at another time selected the same address from the company address book that used upper case, Recent Contacts records both as separate entries. When this happens, the next time the user attempts to email that address, an error occurs and the email cannot be sent until the user clears the Recent Contacts list. The send function appears to be looking at the Contact list and the Recent Contact list.

I'd like to keep the type-ahead historical feature, but would like to see the "Send" button not look at the "Recent Contacts" when emailing.

Domino Administrator / Admin Tools: Policy setting for Recent Contacts

Author: Chris Farrell
Tags: Policy Recent_Contacts Contacts
Idea:

We are beginning to roll out the 8.0.1 client. It is becoming apparent that we need to disable adding names to "Recent Contacts". The feature is causing more problems (i.e ambiguous names) than the convenience is worth. I would like to do this using a Policy, but the option to restrict the adding of names does not exist in the policy documents.

This "feature" is enabled by default and must be disabled by the user. It should be controllable by a policy.

Notes Client / Contacts: Add 'Move to My Contacts' button to the form

Author: Alex Kassabov
Tags: recent_contacts contacts
Idea:

The 'Move to My Contacts' button is only available at the Recent Contacts view. It would be nice to have it in the Contact form, too.

I use Mac's Spotlight to search for contacts. Sometimes it finds the name amongst the Recent Contacts. It opens the form, but I have no way to make this a permanent contact. I end up having to open my address book, go to the recent contacts view, search it, find the contact, move it. Then go to the Contacts view. Search the view. Find the contact. Edit it and add phone number and other information. Way too many steps.

Should be a lot simpler. Desktop search to find the contact, edit it, update the information, click on a button and it becomes a permanent contact.

Make the user's life simpler.

Notes Client / Mail: DFR - Update Address on Recent Contacts prompt, when user resends with new address

Author: Bill Malchisky
Tags: DFR recent contacts recent_contacts delivery_failure reports
Idea:

Power users know to go and periodically clean-up the Recent Contacts view. To save everyone some time, when you receive a DFR and resend with a new address, receive a prompt to have the old address (now stored in Recent Contacts) get replaced with the one you just typed.

Keeps out the errors and simplfies a lot of manual editing, plus keeps your address suggestions list more accurate and humane.

Notes Client / Contacts: Enhanced Policies for Recent Contacts

Author: Sam Sawatzky
Tags: recent contacts recent_contacts notes.ini policies policy deployment Recent_Contacts Contacts
Idea:

We now have the ability to set a policy to completely disable the Recent Contacts (see here). I would like to have more control. In the client preferences, a user can choose three options:

     Any Names to Recent Contacts

CC and BCC names to Recent Contacts

Names from Emails I receive (Only add names from e-mails I send)

I would like to be able to select one of these options rather than just disabling Recent Contacts all together.
