Not just thinking about the IdeaJam site in particular but also the commercial application of what Bruce/Matt and the team have built:

Would a Notes 8 standard client plug-in like the current Quick reminder or Quick Memo be useful if it could be used to create new ideas in this site?

Idea:

Today, you cannot easily design dynamic visual content in Notes view (for Notes Clients).

You can only define a color (backgroud, text...) for a whole colum.

I think a quite simple way to allow better management of user-interface in views would be to allow including basic tags and have the view column property 'treat as HTML in Notes Client'. Basic tags I'm thinking of :

- color coding

- bold / italic /underline

- links

- ...

The final purpose is to be able to include more 'rich text feautures' in a view.... for Notes client users too !

Idea:

It would be nice to not need 5 or more location documents for all my emails.

While I can have one inbox, I can not have multiple outgoing email names/addresses from that one box, thus 5 different location docs/dbs, etc.

I can make personal stationery, but not personal email addresses?

Based on some recent experience the Notes client does a very poor job of rendering HTML mail. As far as I can tell the problem relates to the clients interpretation of inline css.

Assuming that an email contains compliant CSS 1.0 instructions and XHTML I'd expect it to render well and currently it doesn't. It seemed to me that the Notes 8 standard did a worse job (given the same code) than the Notes 6.5.4 client.

So my idea is can we please 'fix' HTML rendering in the Notes clients so at least simple layout instructions work?

Idea:

As the user, designer, administrator of our Notes environment, I frequently have all 3 loaded.

I'd really like an app/db block list so that when I have the "Debug Lotusscript" option enabled and I need to check my mail, or something else, that I could have a list of db/apps that I could exclude from the debugger.

Maybe I am doing something completely wrong, but I don't see a away around this currently.

If there is a way to do this, please enlighten me.

I saw Rob's comment, but I didn't see an actual Idea submitted for it, and I really just got irked at this issue a little while ago...

Idea:

Create a small, end-user friendly applciation to essentially run all of the "n*.exe" programs in the Notes program folder.

In particular, the abiltiy to run "the big three" maintenance applications against one's local databases:

(1) Fixup

(2) Compact

(3) Updall

If you want to go for broke, add a scheduling utility (think: anti-virus and anti-spyware software) that can perform the operations at a specified time, and have the ability to shutdown the Notes client, if running.

Idea:

It works well, BUT WHERE THE HELL IS IT!

I just read the doc on Domino user because I felt too stupid not seeing the option to save files or attach links or anything in an easy and obvious fashion.

The Domino.Doc enabler at least came up in the save options.

I should be able to right click and save to a Quickr site.

I should also be able to open and see them from the client workspace.

It should be a right click option or in the save dialog or in the open dialog and it isn't.
Just show it where the user expects it.

Idea: Sometimes I want only some paragraphs of text to be printed, and not the whole document. If the documents are large, I almost need a whole tree just to have those 2 paragraphs on paper.
If I want some text of a memo next to me (f.e. if I'm solving a problem described in it) I get the header, footer, reply history and other blabla in it too. I always end up with more than a single sheet.

An extra option "Print selection" would do the trick.

Idea:

Wouldn't it save you time if you could drag Notes design elements from a palette and place them on your form, subform etc?

Building on Andrew Pollacks idea fragments of script, or formula language could be user defined drag and droppable design elements.

And wouldn't it also be good to have the properties for that field all laid out in a pane to the right or left of the form like dreamweaver, visual studio etc?

This almost certainly isn't a new idea.... :-)

Hello,

I often write eMails in german with english words... (or I write a german or a english email... )

Every time I need to switch between these two dictionaries. I know how to do but many users doesn´t know or it need to much time... A good idea would be to use two dictionaries. A primary and a secondary. So when I write a english word in my german email it will be not red underlined because it will be found in the secondary dictionarie.

In the Domino Directory every license of Lotus Domino and Notes is listed in the view "Licenses". I would like to see the Sametime Connect Client licenses in this view, too.

Additional i would like to see the version of the ST client in the person document (for support or client migration)

I would really like to see the combobox and listbox (and a @%$#-ton of other objects behave the same (or at all) in a browser or the client. If the whole concept of developing for Notes and Domino is to speed developement time, then I shouldn't have to build form and view objects twice because neither one works in the client AND the browser.

I would like to have two roles in the Sametime Meeting Center DB (stcenter.nsf)

* Client

* WebConnect

These roles should controll which user can see the link to download the Sametime Client and/or the WebConnect client.

Reason:

I wouldn´t like that every user can download the Sametime Client (e.g. License Reason). At the moment I have only the option to enable or disable the clients global for everyone.

I'd like a button to clean up the designer bookmarks (=delete all of them)...

They're messed up all the time and I'm usually using "Go To Designer" feature in the client workspace anyway.

If there was a feature to clean it up, I wouldn't have to be careful which database I'm currently editing.

I would like to see different preferences for the preview pane for the framesets around the mail client. For instance, show the preview pane for the Inbox but not for the drafts or the preview pane takes up half of the screen for the inbox but only 25% for the folders.

Some of my messages get sent to folders without my seeing them, but I want some of my messages to be delivered to my inbox so I'm aware of them, and as soon as I've read them I want them to go into a specific folder -- with no action required on my part to make that happen. It seems to me that marking a rule with an attribute labled "Apply this rule when a message is read" would be the sensible way to expose this feature.

P.S. I do know about SwiftFile. Very neat. Not what I'm looking for.

Notes Client / Other: Let users copy text from views to the clipboard

Idea:

I want to be able to select some or all of the text in a view row and copy it to the clipboard, then paste it somewhere as text.

Right now, click-and-drag grabs the entire view entry for dragging to a folder. Obviously, I don't want to lose that feature. But both left-click-and-drag and right-click-and-drag do the same thing! One of them could be lost to give us the ability to select text. Honestly, I don't care which one. Maybe it should be a user preference.

Consider the address book views. Wouldn't it be wonderful to be able to select a phone number and paste it into skype's dialer? I could come up with lots of other examples.

BTW: I don't have an ND8 client handy to test whether this is already there. I don't recall ever seeing it demoed or otherwise noticing it. But if it is there, then that's great -- and never mind ;-)

Make a STOP button next to the Open button that does exactly what Ctrl+Break does. Right now, that's just the super-secret keystroke for power users only.

UPDATE: Just to clarify, there IS a Stop button in the toolbar today. But it's not useful, because when your client is in a wait state, such as when running a long agent process, you CAN'T CLICK ON IT.
