Idea: Notes "might" be taken a bit more seriously if developers could write standard SQL to get data out of it, especially for web applications. Don't bring up the NotesSQL driver, cause although it still works, requiring someone to install something to get to web data flies in the face of what the web is all about. I believe that the interface should be able to handle Select, From, Where, and Order commands and be able to do Joins across disperate data sets.

Idea:

Lots of people have posted things about adding more colors or size to the icons. Good, but incomplete.

Icons - including database, workspace page, toolbar, and bookmarks -- should allow you to specify a standard windows (supported by linux and mac also after a fashion) icon (.ico) files. These files can be stored as a file resource within the database easily enough.

This way of storing icon data handles mutliple sizes which the ui can then select from for best use in a particular place.

Supported colors and resolutions span from very rough to almost photographic clarity, and many tools exist for creating and editing them.

Idea:

I would like that the size and location of pop-up screens, like the file selection box, are remembered when you restart the Notes Client.

There are some other screens where these attributes are kept, like the open database dialog.

Idea:

Make a STOP button next to the Open button that does exactly what Ctrl+Break does. Right now, that's just the super-secret keystroke for power users only.

UPDATE: Just to clarify, there IS a Stop button in the toolbar today. But it's not useful, because when your client is in a wait state, such as when running a long agent process, you CAN'T CLICK ON IT.

Idea: When you have fields that have a Formula that evaluate at True in the InputEnable Field event, this field has a gray background with dark gray text in it. This is really hard for the user to read it.

Idea:

Currently, when editing a Comment, To Do or other entry in the Activities web interface, you can only see about 6 or 7 lines of text in the edit box. This makes it very hard to edit entries of non-trivial length. I would like to see an option to make this field expand to either the entire length of the content being edited or at minimum to increase the field size by a given number of lines.

When recently documenting a changing process in an activities comment, I have found it very frutrating when editing it. Given at current the entry is less than 300 lines long, I found it surprising just how much time I had to spend scrolling around to change parts of the entry.

Idea:

I know we just got open in new back on tabs in 8.5, but I've become used to the tear off tabs in Chrome and now Firefox, so, I'd like to see tear off tabs to new window implemented in the Eclipse UI.

I propose for Sub Actions menu to use the same style (background color, borders and font), which is set in the properties of Action Bar. Now for Sub Actions menu used "system" style (from the operating system), even when the properties of the Action Bar indicated "Use database settings" or "Don't inherit operation system theme"; contrast awful - it's can look at an example Sub Actions views in the mailbox if operating system to determine style "Classical".

When shutdown Lotus Notes it needs some time to end all tasks - when you restart Notes in this time, it will be slow in startup. Bring a progress bar to show that client is shuting down (or close tasks immediately).

Idea:

Load Client on Pentium-4 2,8 MHz 2Gb - 20 seconds! And this despite the fact that when you install the Client was set option, is responsible for loading the core elements of the Client to speed up loading it.. The first call to the context menu on the icon of the database - 4 seconds! Is it really such a difficult operation? When transiting to Java-GUI (Notes Client, Domino Designer) greatly decreased the rate. I see the following problems:

Wrong order for determining and drawing windows (icons). This can be seen when loading the Client when the option "Dock the Open List" in the menu "View": first defined and drawn the lower icon, and then the top (see screenshots).
A similar problem - change the Working Set in Domino Designer, or remove the icon of the database from the Working Set - it is very slow when a lot of shortcuts database, then the window often and displeasingly flashes... Developer as soon as possible should be given the opportunity to work, that is instantly display the selected working set, and other processes (closing / saving of being closed set, and others) to produce a background process, not hinder the developer - sometimes these processes are so cumbersome (it is not clear why?) that the mouse pointer moves jerkily (work in such a mode is impossible)..
Gradual drawing, ie when tiniest interface changes follows immediate redrawed windows, that strongly slows GUI and Lotus-applications in general.
Twitching of the windows. When you switch from the designer in the client and vice versa all the internal windows nasty jerk.
Prolonged use of the Client and Designer of Java-GUI starts work aggressively. I have a OS Windows taskbar in the properties of the option "Auto-hide the taskbar", when your mouse it should pop up, but when the on-screen client or designer, after prolonged operation this does not happen. Moreover, display the taskbar, and switch from the Designer to the Client or another program can only minimize each or pressing Win+D.

There have been persistent rumors that the Domino Administrator with the 9-version of Lotus going to rewrite on Java (Eclipse).. Judging by the work of the Client and Designer versions 8.x.x - just horror takes on the news, as Administrator was the most reliable and rapid Lotus application.. I beg to optimize the algorithms for rendering boxes and their contents. Also, ask before drawing off WM_SETREDRAW, and after drawing - on, - the speed will increase by several times! A new kind of window will be displayed instantly, and will not be nasty twitching. I beg to do it for all the Client and Designer interface. If anyone has elaboration and suggestions, please write in comments. Increased computational power of computers - that's no excuse, something must be done about this.

Domino Designer / : Implement code folding in script libraries

Idea:

When coding in “vanilla” Eclipse you get code folding for methods, constructors, etc. It would be really useful to have such a thing in server-side Javascript script libraries—in fact, across the board for all script libs and agents.
