Sametime / Other: Enable Sametime notifications from servers or workflow to Domino users/groups

Author: David Killingsworth
Tags: sametime notification automatic
Idea:

I run a linux server with cPanel. One of the cPanel configurations is to set an AOL IM ID for the server. When a high severe issue occurs on the server, the server will login to AOL IM with the credentials and send my personal AOL IM a notification, then logs out of AOL IM. If I'm logged in with my personal ID, I receive the notification instantly.

If the same were available from a Domino server or even a Domino application, to a Domino user or group, the possibilities could be endless.

From a Domino admin perspective, this would be beneficial in letting us know that a database is corrupt or that a disk is almost out of space.

Sure, this is already available via events and statistics reporting to email, and most admins have blackberry's or other mobile devices that connect them their email mobily, but why not extend Sametime one step further.

Author: Carl Tyler
Comment: Great idea, be sure to take a look at the Sametime redbook from a few years ago, chapter 6:
{ Link }

We do exactly this in the book.

It would be great to have Lotusscript access to sametime calls without involving 3rd party code or java though.

Author: Phil Warner
Comment: It would be sensational if there were an @function for this, along the lines of @mailsend, with options for sender, recipient(s), message and hypertext links. Even just an emoticon code like a view icon number to indicate something somewhere has happened.
