Idea:

Show in the inbox when a person is out of office? Or even if you went to do new memo, and selected the person's name, perhaps it could tell you at that point that someone is out of office ?

Maybe, something similar to what there is in Sametime / Instant messaging, with a little symbol for out of office.

That way, if you knew in advance, you could send the mail to someone else rather than waiting for the out of office message to come back and tell you. If you hadn't saved a copy of the mail you had just sent, you would have to type it all again to someone else.

Comment: I promoted that although I think this is hard to get the out of office status at email creation time.

Comment: This could be solved with a Sametime enhancement. If ST would allow you to select a persistent status, even when signed off, the OOO dialog could update the ST status to also reflect OOO.

Then we would get that icon on views and screens that display ST status.
