Idea:

There's been discussion on Twitter, and here www.nsftools.com/blog/blog-08-2009.htm#08-25-09 on how to properly pronounce UNID (Universal Identifier).

In general, I'd go with saying U.N.I.D., but then I hate it when folks say "Olay" for OLE. <shudder>

So if we're going to have to have to a cool literation of it, I'm votin' for UHN-I.D.

And sorry, I don't mean Universidad Interamericana para el Desarrollo

Comment: Part of improving the product is discussing and communicating about it. Different/incorrect pronunciation may confuse or distract people from the substance of the discussion.

On the other hand, consistent pronunciation will help people understand and focus on what your are trying to convey.
