Lotus Technical Information / Other: Incorporate LinkedIn Into The Social Networking Aspect of the Lotus Community

Author: William Eberle
Tags: social networking
Idea:

In addition to the many existing links to Lotus Community personalities on Facebook, provide similar links to LinkedIn. I don't want to debate the relative merits of Facebook vs. LinkedIn, but LinkedIn is developing (has developed) a very strong and active Lotus Community presence and can provide another mechanism to access folks. This is especially true in situations where social networking sites with other than business-related foci are blocked by companies.

Author: Keith Brooks
Comment: As a Lotus group owner to one of the top groups I am trying to figure out how to merge them all into one. A fractured community can not really grow.
Some have pointed out that by having one group we would allow competitors to point out we only have one group and it has xx number of people.
Both views are valid, but if you want an active community, then truly one group must exist, not the 200+ when searching for Lotus or Domino or Notes.
Author: Bill Malchisky
Comment: William: You are familiar with the LinkedIn plugin for Notes 8.5? That might help you a bit (yes, it needs more functionality, but it's a start. :)
Author: Erwin Heeren
Comment: Message from LinkedIn:
"Because you've used LinkedIn's Lotus Notes widget recently, we wanted to let you know that we will be closing the application today. You'll still be able to access your LinkedIn contacts through linkedin.com, our mobile applications, and the Outlook Social Connector."

Increases the priority for a Notes feature. Integration with cloud services is crucial. Isolation is a threat!
