Domino Administrator / Other: Admin client that runs seperately from the Notes client in Windows

Author: Thomas Leriche
Tags: admin
Idea:

Wouldn't it be great if the admin client could be tied up processing something and still be able to access the Notes client normally? This way I could be replicating a database, registering 50 new users or waiting for a large log file to open on the admin client and still be able to write an email in the Notes client. It's such a pain to wait!

Author: Colin Williams
Comment: True, you don't need VMWare..it does however solve some annoying issues when running for eg, Standard and Basic clients simultaneously. I figured it was worth putting out there :)
Author: Rob Goudvis
Comment: There was already a post of this kind (I am too lazy to look it up for you now). And there was already a post to separate debugging and looking on a help database at the same time.

By the way you do not really need VMWare to run a second instance of Notes, when it suits you to run different versions of Notes simultaneously. To install that needs some handwork in the registry, but it can be done.
Author: Colin Williams
Comment: I get around this limitation by doing all my admin (and <8.5 development) by running separate Notes instances in a VM with the free VMWare Server.
Author: David Killingsworth
Comment: This is truly a pain. If my admin client is busy connecting to a very remote slow server and opening a database, or performing some other task, I can't switch to my notes client and quickly check my mail.

This has been a frustration since day 1 with the admin client.
