Please fix the IdeJam UI (20 Feb 2013)

Chris,

That bug is fixed now, thanks for reporting it.

Matt

Make IdeaSpaces Separate Configuration Documents (20 Mar 2012)

All interesting ideas, obviously a fairly significant change so we will need to have a think about how best to implement them, expect a call from Bruce to discuss :-)

Matt

Which are best / most widely used features in Connections ? (19 Mar 2012)

Status changed to Withdrawn

ExtJsDomino (08 Nov 2011)

This is not really an idea. The site is intended to gather ideas for improving Lotus Software. Maybe you'd like to change the content to be more tailored to that aim?

Matt

Tag list for files, etc. (06 Oct 2011)

Tags are meant to be freeform, there is no reason a content administrator can't come back and add relevant tags to a record at a later point, but as soon as you create a taxonomy of tags, you kill the ability for the system to evolve and rely on the administrator to keep up with the changing business.

CROWD SOURCING NETWORKING-CONSULTING (06 Oct 2011)

This is not an idea related to IBM / Lotus technology.

Working Sets (26 Sep 2011)

You can already do this in 8.5.2...

Make Ctrl+s work whereever it should when editing XPages in Designer (11 Aug 2011)

It is possible to do this using Dojo, but it's non standard browser functionality so I don't think it should be added.

Display more than five working sets in switcher drop down (25 Jul 2011)

Thanks Vlad, I have linked my idea to yours. Matt

Develop Lotus Domino Applications Quickly (22 Feb 2011)

This doesn't appear to be an idea, you should probably think about removing this post.

Matt

XPages read-write data in Oracle - SQL Server- My SQL - DB2 (18 Feb 2011)

Renato,

This is already possible using JDBC, but I agree it should be made easier for those who don't know Java that well. Ideally we should have JDBC data sources on an XPage.

Matt

Provide the ability to use a URL shortening service for ideas (17 Jan 2011)

Hi Christopher,

This is something which has been on our radar for quite a while now. The problem we are struggling with is the fact that most of our clients run IdeaJam behind the firewall. There are numerous internet URL Shortening services, but, as far as I know, there isn't a dominant one (or even three of four) "on premises" URL shortening service which runs behind the firewall.

If you have a particular preference then please do let us know.

Matt

Give the ability to change own profile (20 Sep 2010)

Hi Vlad,

I've checked your profile security settings and all looks OK to me, could you have another go at editing your profile?

Also I've checked the ideajamsupport@elguji.com email address and it appears to be working properly. Could you try sending an email to us and we'll see if we can work out what the problem is.

If you're happy with everything maybe you can withdraw this idea?

Thanks

Matt

Mark ideas as Implemented (20 Sep 2010)

Hi Vlad,

To mark an Idea as complete you need to be either an IdeaJam administrator or an IdeaSpace Administrator. I have marked the idea as complete. Thanks

Hope this helps.

Make e-mail verification required before enabling new registration (14 Sep 2010)

Erwin,

You're right in theory, however in reality we find that there is a very low fake user ratio. In the three years we've been running this public site I can remember less than ten spam accounts which have been registered. You'll also see a *very* large IdeaJam site run at { Link } where they also do not have any spam account problems.

Matt

Give Domino an up-to-date Servlet Engine (16 Aug 2010)

@David,

XPages effectively provides a servlet engine to you as they run on JSF. Have a look at Stephan's site for more details on how to use them as "web agents" and access the servlet objects... { Link }

expand the option to link ideas or use an other technic (01 Aug 2010)

Michael,

This is a know bug which is fixed in the upcoming 1.8 release of IdeaJam.

Matt

Support posting of ideas to statusnet via its twitter compatible api (14 Jul 2010)

This is definitely something we've thought about before, however the issues which we're not sure how to deal with are which "behind the firewall Twitter clones" should we support and also how should we deal with URL shortening services.

The current IdeaJam / Twitter integration uses the is.gd URL shortener, but I'm not aware of a similar service behind the firewall which we could use reliably across many customers.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Matt

Add "Next" link to XPage view control pager (09 Jul 2010)

We have an XPages version and a classic Domino version built into the same template. You can get to the XPages version of this site here: { Link } but by default we stick with the "classic" implementation.

Matt

Include mini progress bar in workspace icons (new workspace) (07 Jul 2010)

I like the idea, kind of like the "workspace" on the iPhone or iPad when you're updating multiple apps from the app store.

Add "Next" link to XPage view control pager (07 Jul 2010)

Mark,

You can already do this, just have a look at the Pager customization settings in the properties dialog box.

Matt

Agreeing with @15 here. If this is for the client then yes, for the server then no.

IQJam should work using Google Chrome (06 Jan 2010)

Just a bit more info on this one. We've tracked down what seems to be a Dojo 1.3.2 bug. It's already been fixed in future versions of Domino so for the moment we're going to leave it and see what's happening with upcoming versions of Domino. In the meantime, apologies to Chrome users (such as myself!)

When updating an idea's body, return to the initiating view, not All Ideas list (30 Dec 2009)

@1 / @3 - We have added this idea to the "To Do" List for the next version of IdeaJam, thanks for the great idea.

@2 - Rob, I'm reading your comment as wanting to get sent back to the page you came from after submitting a comment to an idea. At the moment, we deliberately stay where we are, to allow the poster to make sure their comment says what they want it to. We'd be open to changing this behaviour but it was what people had originally asked for back in the dark old days of the early life of IdeaJam.

Create a button to promote IdeaJam on other websites (05 Dec 2009)

Hi Mathieu,

You have a couple of options:

1) Each idea has some HTML which you can copy and use to embed it onto your website.
2) You can embed this HTML into your website to get a sidebar like Bruce has on his site { Link } :

<script>
<!--
name="Mathieu Pape";
inwidth = 210;
inheight = 300;
//-->
</script>
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http: //ideajam.net/ideajam/p/ij.nsf/ideajamplugin.js">
</script>

Hope this helps

Create a button to promote IdeaJam on other websites (03 Dec 2009)

A good idea, and something we've looked into before. The problem is that we don't allow anonymous voting, do you have any thoughts on how we could get around that?

Matt

Prompt before adding a database to a working set (29 Nov 2009)

I'd be equally happy with that solution, just as long as the databases aren't added automatically.

In the Web Service provide a list of idea spaces / subspaces (16 Nov 2009)

Great idea Simon. We've had a fair bit of feedback from early beta testers about the IQJam API which we are trying to roll as much into the v1.0 product as possible. This should definitely be possible to add to the list.

Matt

Rename Lotusscript Functions and variables and auto-update all references (29 Oct 2009)

Now that we're in Eclipse for Domino Designer, hopefully we'll be able to leverage the Refactoring tools that are built into Eclipse as standard.

You may want to try this on IQJam: { Link }

URL Control for XPages (26 Oct 2009)

It'd be quite simple to create your own Custom Control to do this, just have the URL, width, height etc set in the Property Definition section of the Custom Control.

I'd rather time was spent creating more complex controls like a name picker, menuing system etc.

Add OnLoad event for Xpage (15 Oct 2009)

For the moment, you can add script like this to a client side JS library:

});

My Unanswered Questions (18 Sep 2009)

Great idea Peter. There goes my weekend :-)

Add a code or "preformmated" formatter to the description area (17 Sep 2009)

Totally agree with you Joseph. At the moment you can indent code blocks etc but I am unable to find a Dojo Rich Text plugin that specifically handles code or pre tags. I'm sure it's possible but we have to be very careful about staying "standard" with all of our software so that we can genuinely claim to offer "File -> Application -> New IQJam" installation.

Hackday Evolution (17 Sep 2009)

Jerh,

Sounds like an interesting idea. You may also want to have a look at IQJam { Link } which is specifically designed for teams and communities that are looking to "crowd source" answers to questions or problems.

The OpenNTF IdeaSpace was removed when the OpenNTF IdeaJam site went live. Any thoughts on where to put the link Peter?

Make it easier to get XPage components by rendered id - XSP.byId (11 Sep 2009)

I'm assuming that Tommy knows the various ways of getting an id, but for those XPages newbies, there are two main ways of getting hold of the id of an element as it is rendered to the browser (so that you can use the id in client side Javascript):

In the JS for an object you can use "#{id:myfield}" which will get translated into something like "view:_id1:_id2:_id51:repeat1:1:_id53:myfield"

In server side JS code where you need to get a field you can use "getClientId("myfield")"

More details here: { Link }

Elect to remove Top Innovators (11 Sep 2009)

@5 - We have weighted each of the different types of activity, so an idea is worth a lot more than a vote and so on, but 900 votes deserves some recognition I think ;-)

@6 - That's a great idea. When we were originally asked to consider this feature it was relatively new and small IdeaJam sites. We'll see how people feel the first stab is working and then add features for future releases.

Very happy to see such a positive response to the feature though.

Launch Options: Open Designated Page (10 Sep 2009)

Paul,

If you create a Navigator and set that as the launch options to use that. And then create a page with the same name, the database should open to the page first :-)

Agree this shouldn't be a hack though.

Matt

Elect to remove Top Innovators (10 Sep 2009)

@Larry - Good question. If we can come up with a good answer then I can't see this being a difficult feature to add.

@Patrick - It's a new feature added in beta this week. You're doing pretty well in the league table, lots of good ideas there :-)

Make it easier to follow ideas, which are important to me (but not mine) (21 Aug 2009)

Hi Jan,

* giving me a way to see that somone has commented on Ideas, which I have commented on

This is already a feature. If you go to your profile, you'll find the email notification preferences.

* add commented on ideas to my dashboard (another section)

Good idea, we'll have a think about that.

* add a "whatch this ideas" feature

Each idea has a star next to it that you can click to make it a "Favorite". Then you can click on "My Favorites" to see all of your flagged ideas.

* report on the activity in dashboard ideas since last visited (votes: +10 -4, 4 new comments, statis changed to "in progress")

Good idea, we'll have to think about how best we can scale that.

SQL view selection formula (16 Aug 2009)

This was possible in the NSFDB2 Query Access views which have just gone into mantenance. In XPages, you can effectively do joins in views, but I'd say this sounds more like you need to be using a relational database.

There is a need for real triggers in Lotus Notes applications (16 Aug 2009)

Have you checked out TriggerHappy on OpenNTF? { Link }

There is a need for integrity constraints in Lotus Notes applications (16 Aug 2009)

Wouldn't constraints rather go against the Notes Database structure, it is by definition, not a relational database.

I'd say if you need such strict data integrity then you should probably be using a relational database. You can still access that data from Notes if needs be.

There is a need for global variables at the level of a Lotus Notes application (16 Aug 2009)

It is something that is available in XPages - sessionScope and applicationScope

Ability to filter by subcategory (14 Aug 2009)

Michele,

You can view a sub category by clicking the sub category link from inside an idea or from the IdeaSpace label against each idea in any view, that will restrict the ideas down to just those matching that sub category.

Matt

Give us back a Lotusphere Europe (12 Aug 2009)

Even though I'm based in Europe, I'd still choose to go to the US for Lotusphere. The community congregates there every year, the content will be better (as all of the techies will go to Florida but not necessarily Europe) and the weather is (normally) better :-)

Make Peter good looking :-) (21 Jul 2009)

And as if by magic...

Well a few lines of LotusScript anyway :-)

Sorry for that bug Peter.

Hi Jan,

When did this issue happen? We did have to restart the server yesterday for some regular maintenance so that may have been the issue. Otherwise we have our sessions set to last for a really long time so you should never see this issue.

Matt

AJAX Suggest to work off Full Text search (10 Jul 2009)

This is already possible in XPages, just write the code to go in the type-ahead properties for a field.

It's reasonably easy to do with classic Domino as well. We use a variant of the approach when you create a new idea here and the site suggests similar ideas based upon the idea title.

Matt

Need to be able to create new IdeaSpaces (01 Jul 2009)

Antony,

Not sure I understand the idea. Are you saying that anyone should be able to create new IdeaSpaces? If so then I disagree, that is an administrative task. Of course anyone set up as an administrator can create new IdeaSpaces either from the Notes client or from the web admin console for IdeaJam.

Matt

Retire LotusScript, Focus on JavaScript (SSJS) (27 Jun 2009)

As far as I can tell that decision has already been made with most development time spent on Server Side Javascript. I am certainly happy with that as the possibilities offered by XPages are a huge leap forwards.

LotusScript should be put into maintenance mode from my point of view.

Spell Check in Idea Description (23 Jun 2009)

Michele,

This is something which is already built into FCKEditor (the rich text editor that IdeaJam uses). It's not something that we will be taking on as a specific feature in IdeaJam itself.

You can find instructions on how to enable spell checking in your FCKEditor configuration here: { Link }

Hope this helps.

I think it's a good idea, I just need to work out a safe and fast way to store the information.

Email trigger when an IdeaJam idea reaches critical mass for decision (19 May 2009)

A simple question for an interesting thought...

Why is the manager not involved in the site, submitting their own ideas, commenting and voting on other's ideas? If they were then surely they would see what is getting the best feedback, if they aren't then I suspect there may be bigger problems that need to be dealt with.

Make the email preferences "Yes" by default when a profile is created (21 Feb 2009)

We didn't turn these on by default just because we are paranoid about becoming seen as a spam mail sender. But we should certainly highlight that the mail options are available on your profile.

Remove IMAP Support From The Notes Client (18 Feb 2009)

It's the fact that I have to run two mail clients, when Notes could implement a decent IMAP interface and let me run just one, and then also give me the benefits of offline replication etc etc.

I suspect I'm not a normal case in that my work machine is also my home machine, but can't hurt to ask can it. :-)

Remove IMAP Support From The Notes Client (18 Feb 2009)

Agreed with Phil, I really, really want a good IMAP experience in Notes. It's a pain having to run another mail client for IMAP mail on top of Notes.

Create an option to "Never Show" in the Show who has voted config (18 Feb 2009)

Just to give some background. We did develop a way of completely anonymising voting but our general view is that anonymous voting is "A Bad Thing" so it never really got the attention it would need to become a core feature.

If the votes here indicate differently then obviously we will revisit.

Add a @formula to evaluate group membership (17 Feb 2009)

It's a nice idea and I promoted. However, I suspect that in terms of performance it may be a challenge to implement.

Ensure delete keyboard shortcut works if focus is on message text (04 Feb 2009)

I agree with Stuart there are any number of focus issues in the Eclipse clients (both Notes and Designer) that really need to be dealt with. They are just annoyances, but when you spend your life in there, annoyances quickly turn into something more serious.

Rewrite @DBLookup in assembler (02 Feb 2009)

Are you finding @DbLookups not performing well then? Often if you do have problems it's down to view design. Generally I am happy with the @DbLookup, although I would like the limits to be extended, but there's already an idea for that: { Link }

Sort or categorize one's own votes (01 Feb 2009)

Good idea Starrow. We are currently working out what will be in the next version of IdeaJam so this will get thrown into the mix.

In the meantime, you may want to have a look at the the Favorites feature where you can flag ideas that you're interested in to go back and look at later on using the star next to each idea title.

Password Recovery & HTTPS (30 Jan 2009)

We've added a "Reset Password" function on the login screen for those that have forgotten their passwords.

Clipboard and screen capture outside Notes pushed automatically into new notebook entry (30 Jan 2009)

While we're waiting for something like that to be added to Notes you might want to check out Evernote, which does something very similar to what you're after.

Date Time Calendar Time Controls on web (30 Jan 2009)

@1 - Agreed, effort is going to be spent on XPages not classic Domino web development. However some things would be relatively easy to leverage using Dojo in classic, I get the impression that this may be one of those areas.

@2 - I wouldn't recommend going back and re-writing all your applications, but when you do have to go and make changes, add new forms or create new applications I am sufficiently sold on XPages that I would use that rather than using "classic" Domino.

In terms of having to do everything twice, you have to do that now with Notes and Web anyway, so I don't see any big issue there.

One Content-Type fits all? (28 Jan 2009)

I suspect any changes to "classic" web development are onto a loser unfortunately now that we have XPages, but I totally agree this is a good idea.

Allowing linking to ideas in a different space (28 Jan 2009)

We plan to completely overhaul how Idea Linking works in a future version and this is very much on the list of things to do as part of that task.

Great idea.

Give more exposure to completed ideas in order to better demonstrate the value of IdeaJam to the end user (25 Jan 2009)

Great idea Jeff, it's something we're working on at the moment. The thing we're constantly aware of is making the front page too cluttered so there's a little redesigning to be done. But this is definitely coming.

Enable Foundations to merge into an existing Domino Domain (25 Jan 2009)

Enable Foundations to merge into an existing Domino Domain (25 Jan 2009)

@5 - I'll mark this as complete then.

Can "Back to Idea Jam" go back to where you started? (14 Jan 2009)

@10 - This is one of those features that has not yet quite made it into the release schedule. We are currently in the process of scoping the next version of IdeaJam and it will be considered along with the rest of the (long) list of items. But thanks for noting that it still needs to be done.

Matt

DXL Editor (08 Jan 2009)

You are able to edit the DXL of a design element by right clicking on it in 8.5 and choosing "Edit with DXL..."

Of course we still don't have full round tripping of DXL so use with caution, but it's there.

Integrate Dojo/AJAX objects into Domino Designer (08 Jan 2009)

Integrate Dojo/AJAX objects into Domino Designer (08 Jan 2009)

Better Notification of Unsent mail (08 Jan 2009)

Maybe a popup is too much, a count of "unsent" mail in the navigator in the same way that you have a count of unread mail in the inbox may be enough.

Improve discoverability of old ideas via a "suggest" feature based on user voting behavior (05 Jan 2009)

@6 - For our archiving, we allow the administrator to choose the timeframe that inactive ideas can remain visible in the system. In conjunction with Jeff's idea, I think we can get towards something that will work for very large, long term IdeaJam sites like this one.

I should probably also say that a lot of our customers actually run their IdeaJams as short term idea gathering exercises so in those cases a lot of these problems won't arise.

Matt

Add a Refresh button to the unvoted view (05 Jan 2009)

Oliver,

In our upcoming XPages version of IdeaJam the unvoted functionality should meet your requirements I believe. WE just need to wait for the server to be released and for us to finish off testing ;-)

Matt

Domino Search as Google Search (05 Jan 2009)

@Guilherme - Do you want to mark this idea as complete?

Idea Spotlight (05 Jan 2009)

@2 - You're right, that's why we settled on the "What's Hot" feature to allow you keep an eye on what other people are voting on.

If you click the What's Hot label, you can also go and look at ideas that are hot today, were hot yesterday, for the last 7 days or last 28 days as well.

Improve discoverability of old ideas via a "suggest" feature based on user voting behavior (05 Jan 2009)

@4 - We are working on these items...

"- a "better" way to walk through the ideas, but I really do not have any practical suggestion for this"

In the upcoming XPages version of IdeaJam you will be able to read the full idea details from the views, thus not needing to open the idea itself as often, this should allow you to get through ideas a lot quicker

"- feedback by IBM on the ideas; I suppose IBM reads the ideas, but what will be done with them?"

We do know that lots of influential IBM-ers read IdeaJam on a daily basis and there are several ideas which have been submitted that are being addressed in the upcoming 8.5 release. We are continuing to try and get more official involvement on the site, but any help from you guys is appreciated, especially at Lotusphere in a couple of weeks ;-)

"I am not sure if IdeaJam can fulfill its promise. There are so many ideas entered, that it looks not very practical to handle them at all. On the other hand, we do not want to be limited to enter a new idea. I hope that IBM uses this forum to get some feedback on their products and learn what is hot for their users."

As I said, we know IBM-ers do read the site daily. We are also adding new features in the upcoming release to rationalize the number of ideas in the system using our new Archiving Rules feature. Ideas that have been inactive for a long time will get moved out of the live area, hopefully bringing those ideas that are getting interest from people to become more visible.

Also, we really like Jeff's idea, and are working out ways that it can be implemented at the moment.

Thanks for all the continuing interest, we definitely are seeing results.

Matt

Improve discoverability of old ideas via a "suggest" feature based on user voting behavior (04 Jan 2009)

That's a great idea Jeff. We are currently working out the feature list for the next version and I have a feeling this will feature quite high up the list.

Matt

More programmatic control over printing from Notes (27 Oct 2008)

@2 & @3 - Currently you can only link Ideas that are in the same IdeaSpace, we are aiming to redesign Idea Linking in an upcoming release, either 1.4 if we get time or 1.5 if we run out of time. Thanks for the report though :-)

Matt

Make ideajam firewall friendly (25 Oct 2008)

Hi Roland,

I'm afraid we just can't legislate for all of the different internet security products out there that change the basic functionality of the standard web browsers.

Google have been helpful enough to provide instructions on how to work around the problem: { Link }

At the moment we test IdeaJam to work on IE6 / IE7, Firefox 2 and Firefox 3 (Mac and Windows) and Safari 3 and Safari for the iPhone as this covers well over 99% of our users. We don't include any security software on top of that.

Matt

Search across IdeaSpaces - Parent/Child (21 Oct 2008)

Hi Melissa,

We do have a new "Advanced" Search screen planned for the 1.4 release of IdeaJam (January '09) so hopefully that will meet your needs.

Promoting though :-)

Adminblast 2009 (15 Sep 2008)

Hi Gregg,

This IdeaSpace is being used by Mac Guidera, the new manager of the Best Practices track at Lotusphere 2009, to help him decide what sessions to include in the Lotusphere agenda. So yes the best ones may well be available to the public in the form of a presentation at Lotusphere.

10 Things to Consider when Developing & Deploying Applications in Large Scale Environments (10 Sep 2008)

@14 - Thanks Ed, I think I've got them all now.

Archive old ideas (09 Sep 2008)

@1 - You're absolutely right, we've locked down the feature list for the Fall '08 release but this is very near the top of the Jan '09 release that we are working on scoping at the moment.

Matt

Comment Field (09 Sep 2008)

This sounds like tagging for emails to me (a la GMail)? If so then a good idea in my view.

Domino Clustering and Server Migration Made Easy (09 Sep 2008)

I missed this session at ILUG but even as a developer I'm interested in it. So I'd love to see it at LS.

10 Things to Consider when Developing & Deploying Applications in Large Scale Environments (09 Sep 2008)

Hi All,

I've deleted the spurious votes and reset the vote counts for the BP IdeaSpace.

Hope that's all better now.

Matt

How to use the wrong design elements to do the right thing in Domino web development (06 Sep 2008)

@1 - I understand the reason for demoting, but I was really aiming the session at more experienced developers who would hopefully get some real benefit from some "hacks" (in the good sense of the word) to move beyond basic web development with Domino.

Ability to change the views (20 Aug 2008)

Melissa,

Using the language documents you are able to change any displayed text in IdeaJam, including the different statuses. If you need any help please feel free to drop us a line at ideajamsupport@elguji.com

Show links in business cards (02 Aug 2008)

Martin,

It's a very interesting idea and your example looks great. But what happens when you have 500 links and each tag has 20 or 30 links associated with it?

Matt

Show links in business cards (01 Aug 2008)

Hi Martin,

I'm not sure I'm understanding what you're asking for. Could you maybe give an example or a simple mock screenshot of what you have in mind?

Thanks

Matt

Specify favorite when entering link (18 Jul 2008)

Good idea Martin, I have added that feature to the site today.

Configurable number of rows (27 Jun 2008)

@2 & @3 - We have now made the rows configurable by an administrator. This new feature will be available in the next released (v1.1.6) which is being tested at the moment.

Ability to reposition Back-to-all-ideas button (25 Jun 2008)

We'll see what the general feeling is on this before deciding what to do.

Configurable number of rows (25 Jun 2008)

Urs,

We can certainly look at the choice between 20, 50 and 100 relatively easily. The continuus scrolling idea is a good one which will require some redesign of certain areas. We'll investigate.

Matt

Top Navigation controls (25 Jun 2008)

Hi Pawel,

We will certainly look at making all of these items configurable.

Matt

What's Hot section controls (25 Jun 2008)

I think its a good idea to be able to configure the number of What's Hot items via the Control Panel. Consider it added to the list.

@1 - The What's Hot label can be modified by site administrators.

Links should open in new tab or window (18 Jun 2008)

I agree Vitor, I need to work out some way of doing user preferences.

Prohibit public links (not my links) to translate into private (18 Jun 2008)

Vadim,

If I've understood correctly you've created a private link when you were logged in, then you logged out and you can no longer see the private link anywhere?

This is working correctly, you will only see your private links when you are logged in. And when you are logged in you will see them in both the "All Links" and "My Links" screens but they will show up with a "private" flag so that you know that only you can see them.

Hope this helps.

Matt

Report bad links (18 Jun 2008)

Excellent idea, will be added to the list.

Private Link in My Links (16 Jun 2008)

Excellent idea Vadim, consider it added to the list for 1.0 :-)

Make Subforms Objects (31 May 2008)

I can see why you want this, but I think the issues around how to handle multiple instances of the same field would require too much of a change to make it worthwhile.

Hiding file path & name in URLs (29 May 2008)

Can't you do that already with website rules?

Allow changing email address on our IdeaJam profile (06 May 2008)

@All,

As of this weekend, we have released the new Change Email Address function. To access it, log in, go to your profile and click the "Change Email" button.

Should be fairly self explanatory from there.

Slawek, If you're happy, could you mark this idea as complete?

Matt

add the option to view MS Office 2007 documents with the bild in the lotus notes viewer (29 Apr 2008)

It's a nice idea, but given that even opening 2K7 docs in Office 2K3 requires a fairly meaty Office download, it seems unlikely to happen any time soon.

Programmatically prevent document printing (29 Apr 2008)

I'm with Rob here. The illusion of security can actually be worse than nothing at all.

Sort votes alphabetically (24 Apr 2008)

It's certainly easy to do. But we did think that the order of when the votes were cast was the more logical sort method.

What does everyone else think?

Stream to Attachment (18 Apr 2008)

@2 - The benefit to me over the years would be huge. In strictly controlled environments, Notes Admins often (rightly) massively restrict rights of agents to access the disk, so you have to go through a whole approval process just to run an agent with rights to save the attachment to disk and then re-attach it to the document. If you could stream the attachment directly into a document it would have saved me literally days of bureaucracy.

Alert the administrator (08 Apr 2008)

Henry,

I like the idea. I don't think that spam is a particularly big problem. If you look in the main rejected view you'll see that we have only rejected 4 ideas, and those were test postings rather than anything offensive. Spam is even less likely in a corporate setting (I would have thought).

But I definitely like the notification idea.

Currently IdeaSpace administrators have editor access to all ideas in their IdeaSpace, so they can recategorize, reject, withdraw or even edit the idea as they see fit.

Matt

Allow Ideas to be saved as "Draft" (03 Apr 2008)

I think that as long as we don't show draft ideas to anyone else then it shouldn't be a problem. We'll just provide a space for Drafts to be showed if you have any.

Return receipt requested indicator in views/folders (03 Apr 2008)

That's always the first change I make to my mail file when I get a new account. That and a button to remove the read receipt flag. I find them incredibly rude and invasive.

Form Properties (01 Apr 2008)

I can see the attraction of moving SaveOptions to the properties dialog, so as long at the functionality stays the same as the current implementation offers then a promote from me.

DWA Lite: Automatically checking for new messages (27 Mar 2008)

It's a very good point Rob, but I still think it would be nice to at least offer auto refresh as an option, whether that's for the user or admin to enable / disable I don't really mind.

Support Mail Template Customization (27 Mar 2008)

@6 - From all reports at Lotusphere, the right people in IBM are watching IdeaJam so keep the ideas and feedback coming. It's a long process but hopefully we'll start to see the results of the community ideas coming through soon.

Matt

Can "Back to Idea Jam" go back to where you started? (27 Mar 2008)

Bill,

I'll answer for Bruce. For the last couple of months we've been working hard on the unglamorous but important tasks of making the IdeaJam back end saleable. So we have basically locked features for the moment.

That being said we have an enormous list of tasks to do for version 1.1 which we'll be starting to develop shortly. So, in the short term we'll be upgrading this site with the latest version of the code which adds a lot of little tweaks. And then in the next month or two there will be further feature releases once we have settled down on the behind the scenes stuff.

Matt

Disable option for the No documents found return for empty embedded views (26 Mar 2008)

Couldn't agree more Patrick, it's a most annoying hurdle that we have to work around all the time.

View Selection from Lookups or Profile Documents (20 Mar 2008)

Or you could just write an agent that goes and changes the view selection formulae once a year, it would save a lot of overhead.

Option to set a default workspace page to open (19 Mar 2008)

I suspect this won't get done as the Workspace is only tolerated for us old school Notes users. But it's a great idea.

Voters should specify their "use type" (05 Mar 2008)

I'm wondering if this is more of a filtering issue. That developers aren't interested in Admin ideas and vice versa (of course noone is interested in users ;-) ). In the next version of IdeaJam we have added the ability to set your default IdeaSpace, so maybe the ideas that you're not interested in will pass you by and you won't vote?

Just floating the thought anyway.

What I am slightly worried about is that we shouldn't making voting more than a one click operation.

Quick stats on IdeaJam Homepage (27 Feb 2008)

Good Idea we, we can certainly do that.

Support opera web browser (23 Feb 2008)

Hi Jan,

I have just tested in Opera 9 on the Mac and it works (not as well as Firefox, Safari or IE, which are our supported browsers). Could you provide some more information as to your operating system and version of Opera please?

Thanks

Matt

Improve Lotuscript (21 Feb 2008)

These are all good ideas Starrow, but I think they should probably be split out into seperate entries. Otherwise we could just have one idea called "Improve Notes and Domino" and then never bother getting more specific. It also allows the IBM lurkers to gauge specific requirements to see what is more important to the community.

Matt

Could we see most recent ideas first in "Your Profile"? (21 Feb 2008)

Absolutely Ben. Good idea. Consider it added to the list for 1.1 which should be coming out in a few weeks.

Matt

Allow Right Click, Open in Designer, from the Database Tab like R7 allows (20 Feb 2008)

Tim,

It's back in 8.0.1 which should be released today.

Matt

'Preview' capability for comments (19 Feb 2008)

We have shied away from allowing editing of comments to stop conversations getting disrupted, but a preview seems like a good idea. It will be added to the (ever growing) to-do list.

Matt

Segment User Experience data and make it manageable & recoverable via policy (19 Feb 2008)

Craig, you're right about the comments being weighted more than votes. Check out our blog entry for more details { Link }

Ability to add an image to a comment (19 Feb 2008)

Charles,

It is in the to-do still, we have just been focusing on getting IdeaJam shrink wrapped for sale for the last couple of months. We are reaching the end of that process and then will be starting on version 2 shortly afterwards. So hopefully in the next few weeks.

Matt

Show login box on the top of homepage (15 Feb 2008)

Starrow,

Originally we did provide a login on the same page feature, but the early users of the site found that annoying so we removed it and went for the classic login screen approach. Of course the original code is still available so it would be relatively easy to re-enable if the support is there.

In the meantime we have been investigating other solutions for keeping people logged on for a longer period of time. Hopefully we will have some progress on that front soon.

Matt

Admin Client for Linux (08 Feb 2008)

In the Bloggers Q&A with Mike Rhodin at Lotusphere it was hinted at very strongly that both Admin and Designer clients for Linux and Mac were on the way in the 8.5 - 9.0 time frame.

Single category view without having to embed it (07 Feb 2008)

From the Design Help file: "In Standard Outline views, filters a view to display only documents from a specified category. In Calendar views, filters a view to display only documents that contain a specified string in a specified column."

Matt

Single category view without having to embed it (07 Feb 2008)

Can you not just use @SetViewInfo Rob?

Saving shared actions should run error processing (06 Feb 2008)

If it were an option as Paul suggests then I would be in favour.

More identifyable information-, warnings- and errors from Notes! (06 Feb 2008)

This isn't my area really, but I should mention Paul Mooney's blog where he talks about how to customize Notes client error messages:

Ideas I voted on are shown as if I have't voted on them (05 Feb 2008)

Slawek,

I've put in a temporary fix for the problem, hopefully you will find that your vote status is being calculated properly now.

Matt

Ideas I voted on are shown as if I have't voted on them (05 Feb 2008)

Slawek,

I think I have found the problem. I will try and get it fixed as soon as possible.

Matt

Enhance the Comments section under your profile (04 Feb 2008)

Good idea Bill. It will get added to the list.

Matt

Add full gzip support to the Domino server (31 Jan 2008)

I suppose it's worth noting on here that ND8.5 will fully support GZip compression (along with a whole lot else). Can't wait for it :-)

Add IDE capabilities for JavaScript in Eclipse-based Designer (29 Jan 2008)

Axel,

My understanding is that because Domino Designer 8.5 will be based on Eclipse, you will be add your own plugins like Aptana. But of course there will be an improved JS editor included anyway, although I haven't played with it to say how good it is yet.

Matt

Allow easier configuration of SSO for DIIOP (29 Jan 2008)

Couldn't agree more Christian, this was painful setting it up for a project I just finished. Works well when you get there but not at all intuitive.

Change Java item methods to use List instead of Vector (27 Jan 2008)

@4 - Of course you're right, I really shouldn't comment before the first cup of tea in the morning!

Change Java item methods to use List instead of Vector (27 Jan 2008)

@2 - I imagine Axel is referring to existing code that would need to be rewritten to use lists instead of vectors. A second API would be a good approach to the problem I think. Excellent idea all round.

Armour Cum SMS Mail Template (17 Jan 2008)

Hasnain,

I'm not sure what the idea is here. Could you add some more detail?

Matt

Finding unused Variable names in Lotusscript (17 Jan 2008)

I would assume that with the Eclipse Designer client coming along that this will be included by default, but you're right it would be a nice thing to have.

Allow me to open/view the similar ideas to the one I am about to post (16 Jan 2008)

@4 - We have changed the code so that the titles are now links that popup into a new window. Hope this is OK for you.

@5 - I've filtered out more duff characters for the agent, all seems OK now.

Thanks for the help and feedback.

Matt

Password management (15 Jan 2008)

Slawek,

Hope that helps.

Matt

Allow me to open/view the similar ideas to the one I am about to post (15 Jan 2008)

In terms of the links we had thought about making them links but were worried that people would click off the idea and lose anything they have entered. We'll revisit and see what we can come up with.

Matt

Allow me to open/view the similar ideas to the one I am about to post (15 Jan 2008)

Slawek,

Thanks for the bug report, that should be fixed now.

Matt

Sign-up/Reservation for Hands-on Sessions (10 Jan 2008)

I saw that as well Randy :-)

Do you want to mark this idea as complete?

Integrate Dojo/AJAX objects into Domino Designer (06 Jan 2008)

I understand Rob's issues with settling on a framework and version but the opportunities are enormous and if it's done well then future versions of Dojo (or whatever) should be able to be installed without too much effort.

Vote later (or more pages) (06 Jan 2008)

You're absolutely right, I changed the threshold a couple of months ago and forgot about it!

Vote later (or more pages) (05 Jan 2008)

Sjef,

The unvoted screen should show the most recent 20 ideas that you haven't voted on. But you have raised a good point. We will add it to the list of things to do.

Matt

Promote / Demote Comments (04 Jan 2008)

Rob,

We have had lots of feedback from people both within IBM and Business Partners outside that they are watching and paying attentions to the ideas raised here. But just to make the point even clearer check out Greg Eldred's blog entry here { Link }

I am sure that as time progresses there will be even more positive feedback. Remember, we have only been live for less that two months at the moment!

Matt

RSS Feeds - Should we create a dedicated page to list them all? (02 Jan 2008)

Charles,

If you go to your profile { Link } the RSS feed there should show all of the ideas you created and all of the comments associated with each idea. Hope this is what you were after.

Matt

Set Default New Application Font Family (02 Jan 2008)

You can do a lot of this with the Ytria tools at the moment, but I agree it would be a nice thing to have out of the box.

Add an idea space for "Templates" (02 Jan 2008)

Under the Notes Client idea space, there is a sub category of "Other Database Applications" which I think probably covers templates.

RSS Feeds - Should we create a dedicated page to list them all? (02 Jan 2008)

It's not really practical to have every RSS feed, but we would be having feeds for every view, which with the current setup would lead to over 50 (as a guess-timate).

View "Unvoted by me" (01 Jan 2008)

Sjef,

We do have the Unvoted page when you're logged in (up on the top menu bar). Or do you mean something else?

Matt

Automatically register wired broker properties as view events (31 Dec 2007)

I have done a little with them and this seems like a good idea to me.

Domino Playground on Lotus Developer.net (23 Dec 2007)

Can you not just download a copy of the server and clients and run them on your laptop?

Make a STOP button (20 Dec 2007)

@8 - I just use the keyboard that comes with Windows... Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> Accessibility --> On Screen Keyboard, it offers enough functionality to be able to send a Ctrl-Break to Notes.

Make a STOP button (19 Dec 2007)

Couldn't agree more, with my MBP where I don't have a Break key, I have to get up a soft keyboard to break out of agents etc. Yes Please :-)

Making @DocNumber available for calculations in view (19 Dec 2007)

I'd agree with Harkpabst, promoting on that basis.

URL Command to get the XML representation of a notes document (17 Dec 2007)

As long as it honours and field level security set up then this is a good idea.

Ability to embed multiple (HTML) views on a Page/Form (17 Dec 2007)

It's certainly possible with AJAX but would be a lot simpler if you could embed multiple views on the form.

Validity Schema for Notes Documents (17 Dec 2007)

It's a good idea Axel. I can think of several instances where this would have been helpful to me. But I think it should be a form property, that if selected should disable certain other abilities, like Form formulae in a view or computed subforms to prevent you from adding other fields. Promote for me.

Top Ideas in the Sidebar: We need your input (17 Dec 2007)

The new sidebar list is the most active ideas from the last 28 days (be that votes or comments) with the most active idea at the top.

It's a fair point that you don't know if you've voted on each idea, we'll try and work out a way of indicating ideas that you haven't voted on. But hopefully this list is slightly more useful and won't weight the voting as much as the old one.

Matt

Islands of Adventure for Lotusphere 2008 Party (16 Dec 2007)

I always thought Islands of Adventure was the best party. The only other one I've not been to is MGM so that would be a good choice as well.

Idea RSS Feed Title Should Be The Idea Title (16 Dec 2007)

Hi all,

We've changed the RSS feeds so that they should be slightly more descriptive.

Thanks for the idea :-)

Matt

Let SearchView return XML, JSON (11 Dec 2007)

Just this single change would make Domino so much more powerful than it currently is. At the moment to do things like AJAX type-aheads etc we have to write an enormous amount of code. But with this it would make life so much easier.

Capability to pull fields from different documents in view columns (11 Dec 2007)

You're effectively talking about joins (or DBLookups) in views which is what DB2NSF has given us but only with the added complexity of running DB2 as well as Domino. I think this is basically an impossibility within the current Notes architecture. However desirable it might be.

Idea RSS Feed Title Should Be The Idea Title (11 Dec 2007)

Good idea Corey. It will get done.

Matt

Plain text editing for Idea Description (11 Dec 2007)

Just to confirm that there is no client side Java or any ActiveX controls at all in Idea Jam. Could you drop Bruce or myself a line so we can find out what's causing the problem for you?

Thanks

Matt

Adding a bookmark in the client = adding it in Designer (10 Dec 2007)

The way I work in Designer is totally separate from Notes. I'd rather look after bookmarks myself.

MaxResult parameter in @DbColumn (08 Dec 2007)

What a great idea. I can think of many times this would be useful, also the same would apply to @DBLookup.

Add picture to profile (07 Dec 2007)

I like the idea of Gravatar, but have heard reports that it's broken some people's blogs. Any comments?

JavaDoc type of help for LotusScript (07 Dec 2007)

It would also be great to be able to write documentation for your agents in a JavaDoc style way as well so that it can be aggregated and exported when documenting the system.

RSS feed of the ideas only (06 Dec 2007)

Absolutely, taking notes as I read ;-)

Allow Readers to do full text searchs (05 Dec 2007)

Craig,

You should see an Edit button at the top of the ideas created by you. You can either edit the idea or change the status of it.

Matt

Show Unvoted items for a specific Idea Space (05 Dec 2007)

That seems like a good idea. Consider it added to the list :-)

Make comment submission occur without a full page reload (02 Dec 2007)

Peter,

Your wish is our command :-)

AJAX commenting has just been released live.

Matt

Notify me of followup comments via e-mail (30 Nov 2007)

@6 - There is a global comments RSS feed { Link } which can be accessed from the Recent Comments view on any idea space.

Hope this helps.

Matt

Top Voting (29 Nov 2007)

@2 - Spot on, the What's Hot screen does show ideas that have lots of activity be it promotes or demotes or comments. Hopefully that covers most people.

Add full gzip support to the Domino server (28 Nov 2007)

@5 - Yes I tried it on an R7 server and found it to be *hugely* unstable. Must admit to not having tried with R8 but in reality there are very few companies that would allow an undocumented hack to be turned on at the server level!

Add a second level of prioritization - IdeaJam Dollars (27 Nov 2007)

@5 - Sorry must have mis-remembered who said what when we've had this discussion in the past.

@4 - I do quite like the idea of scoring an idea rather than just voting yes or no for it. It would be a fairly significant change in design so we'd need to look at if/how we do that. One for Bruce to chime in on I think.

Remove Promote Demote controls when voting (27 Nov 2007)

That should be live now Mark. If you're happy could you mark this idea as complete?

Thanks

Matt

Add a second level of prioritization - IdeaJam Dollars (27 Nov 2007)

It's an interesting idea Ben. What happens once you've run out of money? Or do you get an allocation weekly or monthly or something?

You seem to be coming round to Nathan's view that voting should have some cost associated with it (see his battle idea { Link } ).

I am still to be convinced. I like the simplicity of just voting up and down but I do agree we need some way of having top ideas. I think Rob's idea is probably the best way of doing this: { Link }

store NSF in more relational databases, not only DB2 (27 Nov 2007)

It's a nice idea but unfortunately from the little I know if NSFDB2 it's never going to happen. My understanding is that changes were made to DB2 to support Domino requirements and that's obviously not going to be possible for non-IBM RDBMS's.

a javascript framework for default (27 Nov 2007)

My understanding is that Dojo is the "preferred" framework simply because IBM is involved in Dojo development. That being said I'd hate to be forced down one route when each framework is suited to different requirements. For example I've worked on three major applications this year (of which Idea Jam is one) and have used MooTools, Dojo and Prototype / Scriptaculous. Each was used for very specific reasons and each was relatively simple to get going in Domino.

Now maybe what is needed is a set of articles on how to integrate the major frameworks into Domino. And also a website where you can download an nsf that has each framework pre-imported as file design elements.

Idea linking seems broken (26 Nov 2007)

It should be working now Slawek, thanks for the bug report.

Matt

IdeaJam.net developers host BoF (26 Nov 2007)

It's a great idea Curt, unfortunately the idea didn't occur to us until it was too late. Maybe next year. But if you are going to LS then we can always meet up for a beer ;-)

I am able to vote for Completed ideas, but shouldn't be able to (26 Nov 2007)

Thanks for the bug report Slawek, we'll look into it.

Bring back cert-lab at a discounted prices (25 Nov 2007)

I hadn't heard there was a risk of the labs closing. If this is so then you've definitely got my vote. I was planning to do my ND8 upgrade at LS this year.

Staging concept makes our design flexible ....[ when you use staging variable as a number ] (25 Nov 2007)

Demoting as I don't understand what the idea is.

Recent activity view (24 Nov 2007)

@All,

I've re-released the What's Hot page but now with added functionality. The code takes into account both the number of votes and the number of comments so that active ideas in either sense of the word will show up.

Hopefully this will be a useful and interesting way of seeing what is going on at the Idea Jam.

Matt

list of objects in left pane to be date-ordered (23 Nov 2007)

That's fine if you're working on a database on your own. But if there are multiple developers I think alphabetical would make it easier to find the design element you're looking for.

Recent activity view (23 Nov 2007)

What the "What's Hot" page shows is the top 20 ideas that have had the most number of votes (whether they be promotes or demotes) within a certain time frame. We've actually removed the link for the moment because it wasn't quite ready for prime time but it should be re-released over the weekend.

With regards to @4, the What's Hot doesn't differentiate between very popular or unpopular ideas, it shows the most active ideas by the total number of votes.

I think we'll probablu integrate the page into the statistics page somehow. Still need to do some planning there.

Subclass/Redefine product classes (22 Nov 2007)

Slawek,

What's stopping you doing this already? Just define MyNotesDocument in a script library and include it in all your agents.

Matt

You need to login prompt - add link to login (22 Nov 2007)

James,

When you get prompted to login, the word Login on the alert box is a hyperlink to the login screen. We would like to work out a way of maintaining authentication over time but unfortunately I am not aware of any way to do this for the reasons that Mika has already mentioned. Any ideas appreciated though ;-)

Matt

question about idea (22 Nov 2007)

I think this would be better dealt with by email. Drop Bruce or myself a line and we can have a chat about your requirements.

Matt

Option to specify what type of document to search (22 Nov 2007)

It's easy enough to do, but are finding that a simple search is not returning the correct results? We should aim to make what we have work better before adding complexity I think.

Allow browsing idea spaces and sub spaces (22 Nov 2007)

Slawek,

If you open an idea you'll see that the sub category is a hyper link which then takes you into a set of views which just displays other ideas in the same sub category. Hope this is what you were after.

Matt

Prompt me with possibly similar ideas before I submit mine (22 Nov 2007)

I agree it's a nice to have, but realistically this is an administration issue. We need to have better tools to link / merge ideas when there are duplicates.

Keep the votes hidden for an initial period (22 Nov 2007)

I agree with Axel, consistency across the system is important. Also I don't think there are many people in our community that are going to let others influence their opinions that much ;-)

Option to display field names in a document (22 Nov 2007)

This sounds like a good idea, but one for an ISV to produce as a developer tool rather than a core piece of Notes client functionality.

We might need a 'report user' option... (22 Nov 2007)

I agree with @8, we've chatted about this issue before and came to the opinion that forcing people to leave a comment will not actually add any benefit. In the end I think demotes with an opinion will probably carry more weight with the idea proposer and the rest of the community.

How about a bloggable URL like a Youtube URL? (21 Nov 2007)

@4 / 5 - Yes we do need to work out a way to merge ideas. It's on the list of things to do. In the meantime I can exclusively reveal that Mr Elgort is currently beavering away on this very idea.

Countdown of resources (21 Nov 2007)

@4 - Scott you should have an edit button on ideas that you submitted. Please feel free to go and edit the idea. I'll leave it up to you how you highlight the changes to your idea. Good to see such great feedback :-)

"Keep me logged in" option please (20 Nov 2007)

It's a good idea Stuart, but we'll need to work out a way of implementing within a Domino environment. Not something I've ever tried before but it will be added to the (ever expanding) list :-)

Email comment notification to idea creator (16 Nov 2007)

We have added a new feature that will send you an email when someone comments on your ideas. By default this is turned off so to enable it, log in, go to your profile, edit it and you'll find a radio button at the bottom of the form.

Hope this is what you were after.

Marking this ideas as complete now.

idea summary - give indication of when the idea description will no longer be shown in the view (15 Nov 2007)

Slawek,

Actually in an early beta we did have functionality that allowed you to see the ideas and comments from the views and the general concensus was that usability suffered. I guess that's our fault for the implementation and I'm sure we'll re-visit in future versions but for the moment we want to get a good solid base in and working.

Matt

Give all attendees a DVD with all presentation PDFs on it (15 Nov 2007)

Why a DVD? At the UKLUG this year we gave away the conference materials on a USB thumb drive and it was a great success.

Blog widget for My Ideas (15 Nov 2007)

@All, I have fixed the blog widget. To add it to your blog you just need to put the following HTML into your blog configuration...

<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
name="all";
inwidth = 180;
inheight = 300;
innumber = 10;
//-->
</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="{ Link }

You can replace the name="all" line with your registered username to show only your ideas, so for example I would enter:
name="Matt White";

Internationalisation (15 Nov 2007)

Feature Request - Make comment authors names links to their profile (15 Nov 2007)

Marking this as complete

changes to hidden fields on a document in edit mode should not put it in dirty state (14 Nov 2007)

As long as the default is to act as it currently does I think this is a good idea.

Create standard, acceptable way to point to ISV solutions in comments (14 Nov 2007)

I don't think people will flame for good suggestions for ISVs. In fact I'm fairly sure I have suggested ISV solutions to problems people have raised already. Generally these things should be self regulating, if someone tries to pimp their product where it's not valid they will get flamed, otherwise people will be grateful for the help.

Or am I being naive?

Support Designer on Mac OS X (14 Nov 2007)

Couldn't agree more. It's only Domino Designer that keeps me running Windows at all. I use a MBP all day every day but have to fire up VMWare most of the time to do my Domino development. The day that I can dump Windows altogether I will buy the entire Domino Designer development team a round ;-)

Should have a standard "Feedback Request" designation? (14 Nov 2007)

I agree Ben. I had hoped that the view of most commented might help out there but as soon as ideas fall off the front page they need some help to stay alive. We need to work out some way of flagging ideas that are neutral but stimulate a lot of comments.

Anyone with ideas please weigh in...

Soliciting ideas for Lotusphere 2008 Sessions database (14 Nov 2007)

Ben,

What would be great is a web interface so that those of us on an iPhone / iPod Touch could access the sessions db.

I've not thought through any sort of requirements at all but my plan for '08 is to just have my Touch with me during the day so I need something that can either be in my calendar or on the web.

Matt

A Jug of Wine, a Spreadsheet, and Thee - What would you like to see? (14 Nov 2007)

Well I guess the most obvious requirement I can think of is how to export views to a spreadsheet with a view action button. But then it would be great to add some charting as well to really knock the end user out ;-)

XHTML or Other Markup stile (14 Nov 2007)

It's not perfect Daniele but you can use the $$HTMLFrontMatter field to at least set the HTML tag of the pages that you generate. Still promoting this idea though as full control would be nice.

Remove Promote Demote controls when voting (12 Nov 2007)

@7 - Bruce is right, we haven't implemented the hiding in the idea itself yet as, bizarrely, it's more complex than in the views. It is slated for a post go-live date, but pretty high up the priority list.

Matt

Use stop words for tags (11 Nov 2007)

I don't disagree Thomas. The reason I'm demoting though is that I would like tags to happen organically. Also I'm worried that maintaining a black list of tags could become a maintenance problem. We are trying to make the system as low maintenance as possible.

Change the "Tsk tsk, operation not allowed..." error message. (11 Nov 2007)

We've released a new version of the Idea Jam template today which changes the messages and voting in general. I'm going to mark this idea as completed.

Iterable data folder (11 Nov 2007)

An interesting idea Dan. What would you use it for?

Create a mock framework for Domino Java API (11 Nov 2007)

@1 - Got to disagree Mika, I use Java well over 50% of the time and find it great, easier to write complex code than LS and very flexible.

@2 - This would make a great OpenNTF project if you ever finish writing your Unit Test classes.

Right-click - Paste Special (11 Nov 2007)

I understand the reasoning but I can't think of any other programs that have Paste Special as a right click option. By its nature it's a non-standard action and the right click menu is already cluttered enough. But I'm obviously outvoted on this one :-)

Remove Promote Demote controls when voting (11 Nov 2007)

Hi Mark,

We have released the latest build of the Idea Jam template today, so now you should see better promote / demote functionality in views.

If this is what you were after could you mark this ideas as complete?

Thanks

Matt

Selecting "no opinion" resets votes to 0 on screen (08 Nov 2007)

Charles,

Thanks for the bug report, we'll look into it.

Matt

Unvoted view doesn't show all unvoted Ideas (08 Nov 2007)

Axel,

What Bruce said is spot on, but there is another driver for the limitation...

The only way to generate the list of unvoted ideas is with an agent and I didn't want to process the entire view of ideas every time the page is loaded purely due to performance issues. So I made an arbitrary limit to show the 20 most recent unvoted ideas. If you have any ideas about how I could redesign this and have it still work efficiently then please drop me a line.

Matt

Search results don't show contents since 2007-11-05 (08 Nov 2007)

All fixed I think. Thanks for the bug report Mika.

Testing Idea Jam RSS Feeds (07 Nov 2007)

@Eric,

How would you see a feed of popular ideas working? Wouldn't the same idea just keep on re-appearing in your feed reader. If you can come up with a good solution I'd be more than happy to add it.

Matt

Comments icon for Voting Details (07 Nov 2007)

Nice idea Henry. Will get added to the list, though I don't think it will happen in version 1.

Matt

Bring back right click "Open In Designer" on a Workspace tab (07 Nov 2007)

Ah you beat me to it Stuart ;-) Great news anyway.

"Recent Comments" view shows all comments (07 Nov 2007)

Agreed Axel ;-)

In fact I think we'll withdraw this one Bruce?

Fix OpenNTF login (07 Nov 2007)

In fact it's already live with us as of last weekend ;-)

Logging in from an existing idea takes you to the new idea form (05 Nov 2007)

Should be fixed now, thanks Charles.

We've done this in our dev system, we'll be releasing it to the live site some time over the next few days.

Thanks

Matt

Post Your Idea button (04 Nov 2007)

Released to the live site, so marking this idea as complete.

BUG: RSS feed isn't valid (04 Nov 2007)

Thanks for the tip Thomas, we've fixed this in our dev system. It will be released some over the next few days.

Add the page navigation to the top of the screen. (04 Nov 2007)

We've done this in our dev system, thanks Alan. We just need to make it look a little nicer before releasing to the live site.

Matt

Watching an Idea post, then login: I'm not redirected to the page I was watching... (04 Nov 2007)

The fix for this was released today. Thanks for the tip Cristian.

Post Your Idea button (03 Nov 2007)

Paul,

That's done in our dev system. Thanks for the great feedback.

Matt

Display "No Opinion Thanks" button in the view level (03 Nov 2007)

Hynek,

Nice idea. We just need to work out the design about how to display the button etc.

Matt

Make 'can't run agents' include 'can't create toolbar code' (02 Nov 2007)

From a developers point of view I whole-heartedly agree. But from a power-user's point of view it would really be a pain in the butt for me. I'm going to demote on the basis that anyone who can write an @Formula and put it in a smarticon is probably smart enough to know what they are doing.

Matt

Internationalisation (02 Nov 2007)

Being UK based, I'd go with that, not sure if the rest of the world will agree. What do people think?

"Page" verbiage looks clickable but isn't (02 Nov 2007)

Just echo-ing Bruce, agreed, we need to make the page navigation better in general.

Matt

Lower the price (02 Nov 2007)

Much as I agree Jerry, I still go every year as the trip more than pays its way in new or retained business for me.

I do think there is space in the world for independents to help each other out when new work comes along though, so if you'd like to meet up at LS this year drop me a line and we can grab a beer and see how we can help each other out.

There is a whole group of UK based independents that I can introduce you to (if you don't already know them).

Matt

Testing Idea Jam RSS Feeds (02 Nov 2007)

Hi Charles,

So if you go to the RSS feed for this page ({ Link } ) it's not showing you the idea itself and the comments associated with it? Seems to be working for me.

Matt

Allow user defined 'property box on/off' setting (01 Nov 2007)

Cool, never knew that. Idea Jam has earned its keep for the day ;-)

Allow user defined 'property box on/off' setting (01 Nov 2007)

Wow, what a great idea Doug. Couldn't agree more. Same applies to views as well.

Idea Jam Login Form doesn't remember my name or password (01 Nov 2007)

Found the cause, we had "autocomplete=off" set on the username and password fields. That's fixed now.

HTML tags show up in completed ideas (01 Nov 2007)

You're absolutely right Jens, I'll let Ben know so he can have a look.

Matt

LotusScript Editor element for Classes (01 Nov 2007)

I'd really hope that with the Eclipse based Domino Designer that we'd get a modern IDE for LotusScript which works as well as the Eclipse Java editor. But failing that then your idea is a good one.

JavaScript error when voting in unvoted view (31 Oct 2007)

Thanks for the error report Jens. It should be fixed now.

Matt

Hi Joseph,

I'm unable to reproduce this bug. Could you let me know what browser / OS you're using etc. Also any Javascript error message you may be seeing.

Thanks

Matt

A great idea Jason. And provides an excuse to have a look at writing sidebar plugins ;-)

Sounds like a good idea Henry, I'd just like to play with it to make sure we don't kill performance.
