This would be a very helpful function but only for power users and developers. For me it would be enough if there were only a keyboard shortcut for "Paste Special - As Text only" (ex. Shift + Ctrl + V)

I also use the "Copy as plain text" plug-in in firefox. This covers most of my cases, but not all.

With every Notes license you are already entitled to use SameTime for chat. The SameTime client is embedded in the Notes Client. And you can simply install the SameTime server onto your existing Domino server for free.

So do you want that the SameTime server is included into the Domino server installer so you don't need to do two installations? Or you want to remove the "recommendation" that a SameTime server should be run on its own hardware?

Thats the point. But how do you know if there is such a design element ?

Write an agent which does it for you ? A developer can do it but for most admins this is way too much (and these are the ones who need it) Buying an external tool would be an option. But i really think that such a function should be provided by the software itselve.Moreover an agent or tool does not really solve the problem, because i would have to use them over and over again to look if not somebody changed/added some design elements. Whereas with the db-property the daily designer-task would take care of it for me.

Private folder/views (which are used very rarely) are not much of a concern here, because this is excactly what i want to get rid of. If the application allows their usage (like the mail-template does) then i would not use this db-property.

I did not understand your comment. But i guess you also mean that it is enough to go through all design elements and check if none is "Prohibited .." or connected to a different template. In this case see my explanation above.

To make it short i would enable this property only if i want the design to be absolutely IDENTICAL to the template.Guarnteed. Without any exceptions. And something i can relay on and check within a second.

From my experience design elements which are "prohibited to refresh" or "connected to a different template" cause problems in real world scenarios.
I have had tons of support calls from different customers which were caused by them. I think that it would be worth to give us more control over them on a database-property level.

But i think it would be better to have a new formula-computed property for all "Editable fields" called "Read Only". (Similar to the "Input Translation" formula.) The reason is that you usually need a field to be editable under some condition, but read-only for an other one. You are right that this would save a lot of unnecessary "Computed for Display" fields with "Hide-whens". (And crappy workarounds for RTF-Fields)

Agree. But please make the pop-up text computed and let me read it from a Profile-Document. This is needed for multi-language applications.

I have already tried it and it works (for display in views and for replies), so I think you are right and no change is needed anymore.
As far as other e-mail clients are concerned, I don't care. This is nearly exclusively used for workflow and informational mails from Notes applications to Notes users.

I agree. But i would go even further, because data loss even due to a users own error is a major problem. Any improvements here would help people to like the product more.

- save the attachments from one document into its own subfolder (UNID as foldername ?). Right now all these files are saved into the same directory. This causes a problem with picture-files, because most image-viewers display the next image file when you scroll the mouse-wheel or similar. (So sometimes a user opens a valid scanned image of a contract and by mistake he suddenly displays his family photos which he looked at earlier that day, only because he accidentaly hit the mouse wheel.)
I also had a request with Excel-files which were attached in Notes and contained data-links between each other. If these files were detached with their original names to a separate directory (in the correct order) then these data-links might have worked.

- right now the files are deleted from the temp-directory when you close the Notes-client. I would like to have even this configurable. How about keeping them for a whole week ? So when a user calls that he made and saved some changes to a attachment, the admin will still have a fair chance to find this change.
Or let me set it the other way around: Delete the file immediately when i close the document where the attachment was from. This might be interesting for some higher security areas where the admins don't want files which are normally perfectly encrypted in a database to be on the HDD for several hours.

If you hit Ctrl-C while having open any messagebox-dialog, then the content will be copied as plain text to the clipboard. The same happens in the "Extract Recovery Information"-Dialog. It will look like this:

@ Curt - well it is nice that it works for you, but for me this is actually a typical example of a terrible workaround. (It overwrites the users clipboard-content, it makes the screen "flicker" twice, it can take ages if the RTF contains large attachments, it needs a damn lot of code for a simple task)

@2 I have changed the syntax in my text so that it contains "rich text" now. Hope this helps :-)

@9 Sure it could be just a "More Information" field, but my intention was to see already at the view-level that an idea is coming very early (8.0.1), sometime later (9.0) or if it simply is unknown it it comes at all. A simple icon with a on-mouse-over pop-up would be sufficient.

And I would like to have an option that the signature should NOT be included if I FORWARD a mail message. Most of the time if I forward a mail, i am not adding anym more text to it.

I did not think that this categorisation should be filled by IBM, nor should it be in any way binding to them.Rather it should be managed by "anybody" and contain links to the source of their information. (Notes.net discussion, Blogs, Lotusphere sessions,...)

I just think that if such information exists, then it would deserve a much more visible place then only somewhere in the comments, like it is now.

Moreover if you right-click a document link then there are the options "Open View" and "Open Application", which already launch the target database in its default state. Try them :-)

Yes, I can confirm that it does not stay to the far right on a wide screen (1600x1200) but moves always somewhere to the middle.

@Mark - As far as I know "Run in background client thread" is a nice feature, but it runs the code in the client and with his permissions. What I meant was the option to trigger an agent on the server (NotesAgent.RunOnServer) but having the choice to decide wheter my script should wait, till this agent finishes, or if it should continue running.

And why not add a specific parameter which would just trigger an agent without waiting for it to finish. This would be nice not only for the web, but also for the Notes client. (Today you can achieve this with a workaround through calling the server-console command {load amgr run "DB.nsf" 'AgentName'}, but why not have it easier.)

As many people tend to copy/paste texts through shortcuts it would also be acceptable just to use an other shortcut for "Paste as plain text". (ex. Shift-Ctrl-V)

I agree that it is useless. Spam sender names are always changing. If you have a user who does use this feature, his efford is actually wasted. It would be much better instead if he would forward the message to a central SPAM database, where an admin can analyse it and improve the overall SPAM filters.

If it is not removed it would be fine if it could be hidden via policies.

Yes that would be great. And the resizing of tables should be tested for bugs. It still does behave very unstable if you merge cells or embed tables into each other.

To be fair it should be said that with the Express offerings the prices have been lowered significantly.

The only suggestion I would make now is: Make the Domino Designer FREE.
It is in IBM own interest that as many developers/administrators/power users/students develop applications for Lotus Notes. The more application the more overall usage of Lotus Notes. So remove the this additional burden for anybody who wants to play around.

PS: I know there is a trial version of the designer. But i have often seen power user/administrators in companies who asked for the Designer client and were rejected by their companies that the license is too expensive.
