Meetings of more than 24hours (20 Jul 2012)

I am hoping that IBM actually is working on this one. They are going to implement an API for calendaring, and this process might lead to that we get this functionality. I do not know when this API is finished. The idea with this calendar API is to remove all problem that exist with third party products manipulating the calendar directly and destroying it, but new features is not impossible. So keep fingers crossed that we get this one in the future.

Server Console: Different colour for console commands / responses (20 Jul 2012)

Good idea (but not a killer feature) and probably easy to implement by IBM.

Make it possible to run two different standard Clients with differnet IDs at the same time (20 Jul 2012)

On Linux I can have Domino administrator running in Wine and have notes client running nativly.

I wish we had a designer on Linux since then I would have everything in one place.

Domino Designer available for Linux and MAC Os (20 Jul 2012)

Please please provide us with designer on Linux (and Mac).

I the case of Linux, imagine that DDE was ported to Linux and easily installed using Ubuntu (like Symphony is today). University students could easily install start to develop applications for Domino.

And Mac is really really polpular among University students. It is really sad that it is not yet ported to this platform.

One DAOS store for many domino servers (20 Jul 2012)

I like the idea but do not know if I should Promote or not. It is definitely a super interesting idea, but my guess it is difficult to implement it and I would be scared myself if the companys only daos-store got corrupted or anything like that. Imagine one server in the cluster go mad and delete attachements that is forever lost and then trying to restore this from old backups.

Colored tabs in Notes client (20 Jul 2012)

Imagine how happy our users would be if they discovered that Notes had this ;-)

Could actually be a killer feature which Outlook never will have. Image Outlook users nagging on the IT-staff about how excellent Lotus Notes is to work in.

Deliver start/stop scripts for Domino on Linux (20 Jul 2012)

I have been using Daniels scripts but recently switched to my own scripts (which is based on different domino/unix admins experience)

I keep the domino in a "screen"-session and store the logs i data-directory where they are zipped. Also I do maintenance daily or weekly of system databases using the script and cron.

It would be very nice if IBM could provide this themself so everything become standardized. Also an official Wiki-page create by IBM with linux-help would be nice.

There are some scattered information all over the web on this issue, but it is definitely time for IBM to step up and sort out the situation.

I would like to see a page where there are different scripts to choose from. Help on all distributions that exists. Information about best practices on Linux.

Connect 3:rd party mail clients to Domino with ability to use Contacts/Calendar/RnR (20 Jul 2012)

@Mathieu Pape

Thanks for your feedback.

I have long seen iNotes as a saviour. But users which exclusively use this tool seems not to be the power users. Hopefully a future version of iNotes will have all the nice features of the fat client. But my suggestion is nothing that would impede that development.

I also would like better performance and everything from Notes client, and this is not something that would stop any improvements of the Notes client.

I wish to have an alternative product to:
1) Have something built in to Linux distributions which can directly connect to domino server with full features (like Evolution does with the Novell mail server)
2) Have a mail client to connect to Domino server that is community driven and where myself can contribute code and changes (and fix bugs)
3) If this server API is implemented then maybe even Apple can build in full mail/calendar/Contacts etc into their Mail application and that will definitely open new markets with lots of $$ for IBM (and us consultants). Do anybode have arguments against this one?
4) Admit it, some users really really hate Lotus Notes, it is not logic always (or ever?) but having the name IBM Mail or Thunderbird or similar might acutally be to an advantage here

If IBM could just provide the server API then the community itself might be able to produce the mail client. This step is what IBM has to do. We all know that since it is IBM we are dealing with this will probably not happen until big big customers demand it, but one may dream.

Enable Out of Office automatically when scheduling calendar items (20 Jul 2012)

Great idea, this would really help users get a little more satisfied with Notes calendar
