IBM to post Passport Advantage availability hours (15 Jul 2010)Why doesn't IBM use the HA capabilities in their products instead? |
Strip attachments from delivery failure reports (18 Jan 2010)How about a feature to prevent the server from sending delivery failure notifications to external recipients? |
Add SwiftFile to the standaard! (11 Jan 2010)If that's too hard at least also offer versions for the Mac & Linux clients as well. |
Domino person record needs to contain the location (or replica ID) of the user's primary mail archive. (30 Dec 2009)Don't forget it is possible to have more than one archive. Especially in environments where users are allowed to modify their own archiving settings (like local archiving). |
Linked-In/PAB Synchronization (30 Dec 2009)I'd rather have them spend time & energy on fixing (and finishing) functionality that's currently borked instead of adding more features that are either unstable or just not completely finished. (ID Vault & CA process in combination with a key roll-over on a certifier inside CA springs to mind) |
Linked-In/PAB Synchronization (30 Dec 2009)Why not build that yourself? There's numerous social notworking sites around, do you expect IBM to support them all? or just implicitly support one that you happen to be using ;-) |
New Workspace (09 Apr 2009)Yes please. |
Provide controls to restrict which fields FT Index includes (17 Feb 2009)If anything I'd like to see the ability to manipulate FT settings using lotusscript and not just on a database LOCAL to the script. |
To ensure a workable client and proper font mapping, install the Luxi*.ttf font family by default on Ubuntu (17 Feb 2009)how about just making that font package a dependancy of the .deb installer package? |
Rewrite @DBLookup in assembler (17 Feb 2009)I'd rather see those retarded limits on return set size removed (or increased significantly. |
Prevent address book to replicate with another one it has not seen in xTime (17 Feb 2009)Actually I would like to see this for all types of databases, not just the Domino directory. In the scenario where the client's configured with a local replica and a user has been away for more than 3 months (sabatical/sick leave) and they launch their client again old stuff will replicate back into their mailfile. Another example I encountered last year at customer was where users would create local 'archives' by creating creating local replicas which in itself was not a problem until the clients were reconfigured for local but connected mode with scheduled replicatioin where some of these old replicas started to replicate stuff back to the server. |
Stop archiving from taking profile document (17 Feb 2009)Which version did you run into this one? There's a current 'feature' in 8.0.2 where archiving also archives contacts { Link } profile documens should be excluded from archiving that's why they contain fields like $NoPurge and ProtectFromArchive, it seems that current archiving code ignores these fields. |
Auto Correct Spelling and Capitalization (15 Feb 2009)If they do add it I'd like an easy way to toggle that behaviour. More often than not Office is driving me nuts with it's helpful behaviour. |
Web server should provide more informative formula errors (15 Feb 2009)Unfortunately this is a general 'feature' of Lotus Notes/Domino - not quite helpfull error messages. The client will do the same thing . |
Sametime client for iPhone (19 Jan 2009)of course it would be rather limited because of apple's 'NO Background Apps' policy unless you develop it for 'Jailbroken' iPhones that do support background apps (for now). |
Allow Admin to Enable OOO Agent/Service for users (19 Jan 2009)there was a nice feature in the R7 to R8 upgrade (I don't know if it's fixed in 8.5) where users that had used the OOO in R7 but had it disabled would receive OoO messages of their OoO agent after the conversion to the R8 design as if they had it enabled. |
Create an add "-jc" to Windows as a Service, install checkbox (19 Jan 2009)probably one of the biggest reasons why I haven't seen the Java controller being used much in the real world |
New Eclipse LotusScript Editor - things to include (19 Jan 2009)one of the first things I install when I do a fresh client install - install Teamstudio's excellent script browser :-) |
Automatically Refresh Server Lists in Domino Administator (09 Jan 2009)Only if this will run in the background AFTER fully launching the admin client. It launches slow enough as it is already. |
Notes 8.x/Domino Designer 8.5 help - Search on enter (09 Jan 2009)I didn't see this behaviour with the 8.5 designer help db today (or do you mean accessing it through F1 while inside the designer?) I did notice something else though: for example when clicking on the link for the IsOnServer Property in the description for the NotesSession class I got the following popup that said: You cannot add a directory to your workspace. After clicking OK the document for the IsOnServer property opened without any other issues. |
File does not exist... (21 Nov 2008) |
File does not exist... (21 Nov 2008)How about just improve the error reporting period, especially in the R8 Standard/Eclipse client. There are tons of complaints out there |
Update the inbox on local replicas with new mail arriving.. (13 Oct 2008)Unfortunately there appear to be some issues with this feature in 7.0.3 and 8.0.2 versions of the client. sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't work. |
Update the inbox on local replicas with new mail arriving.. (13 Oct 2008) |
Date Formatting in Lotus Script (05 Sep 2008)The NotesDateTime New method sucks if you're not based in the US. Over in Europe a more common way of formatting dates is dd-mm-yyyy. Unfortunately, the new method has a tendency to interpret dates as mm-dd-yyyy for any dates where the day number is <13 (at least this is how it behaves in 7.0.3) |
Provide Script/API methods to control replication settings (05 Sep 2008)enabled for scheduled replication(1) + send documents to server(2) + receive documents from server(4) |
Provide Script/API methods to control replication settings (05 Sep 2008)And before I forget, the 47th byte in the fixed length section controls the 'Enabled for scheduled replication', 'Receive documents from server' and 'Send documents to server' flags on the basics tab of the replication settings dialog |
Provide Script/API methods to control replication settings (05 Sep 2008)apart from decyphering it, how would you go about modifying this field? some basic stuff I noticed when I looked at it shows that for each replicator page entry there is a structure which consists of a section with a fixed length (72 bytes) and a section of variable length. The third byte of the fixed sections shows how long the variable length section is. This section contains things like database title, filepath and replica id. |
Provide keyboard shortcuts for common mail tasks (12 Jun 2008)There's always the <Alt>-# shortcut where # is the number of the action bar button (and then using the cursor keys to find the sub-action (if applicable)). But yes, keyboard shortcuts are often overlooked in a lot of programs. Anyone try Office 2007 lately? If you still remember the shortcuts from 2003, you're good to go, but other than that you're stuck with browsing through toolbars, using the mouse. Sure it looks nice, but I'd rather 'upgrade' back to 2003 from my personal usability perspective :-p |
Don't save read/unread marks per ID for shared mail files & for mail managed by PA's (12 Jun 2008)That's what I generally end up telling users to do as well. Personally I would be annoyed if a message being read by someone else would show up as being read when I haven't read the message. I would consider this a bug, but I've heard this question from a number of secretaries/PA's during an Outlook to Notes migration. |
Saving E-mails outside of Lotus Notes (12 Jun 2008)Unfortunately a lot of people work that way in Outlook shops - the lack of being able to just save messages that belong to a project together with all their other project files is a common complaint that you'll be hearing when involved in Outlook to Notes migrations. The file export method just doesn't quite cut it, what they want is full fidelity of the message, not some ascii text export without the formatting. Users couldn't care less if it's not save/sox compliant. It's what they want, it's what they're used to. |
Support iPhone (11 Jun 2008)Personally I don't care too much for push mail but being able to sync my mail/contacts/calendar with my iPhone I definately would like to see soon - after fixing the Standard client ;-) |
Performance Tuning FAQ or Utility for Notes 8 (20 Feb 2008)Knowing that as a malware writer you just make sure your crap installs into the Notes directory ... |
Way to synch HomeMail server with admin server on the mail file or admin server column in files view (13 Feb 2008)You do know there's the option in the admin client to move users to another server? select the user and in the tools-person drop down, select 'Move to another server...' The administration server will take care of creating a new replica on the new home server, pushing the change to the home server field in the location document of the client, set the new server as administration server etc. |
"do not create database redirection file" when user will be deleted via adminP (13 Feb 2008)12*150=? He probably should've said 1800 files per year ;-) |
Specify target version, and have designer warn about newer elements! (01 Feb 2008)When working on code that is to run in an earlier version I use the designer help for this older version instead of the version of the client I'm currently in. That way I'll be less likely to use functionality that is not available in the target version. |
Bring us back the Formula Debugger (07 Jan 2008)and actually make it work this time around? (without crashing the client) ;-) |
code editing while debugging (30 Dec 2007)I've used it with VB(A) and I kinda miss that in LS |
Strip attachments from delivery failure reports (22 Dec 2007)I kinda agree with Craig here, but on the other hand I generally have my servers not even accept mail for users that don't exist to avoid the messy DSN situation. |
Make a STOP button (22 Dec 2007)a stop button that actually works would be nice yes ;-) |
We need a Plaxo connector (22 Dec 2007)why would notes have to support yet another social whatever site? that's putting things backwards in my perspective. How about Linked-in or ... or ... etc. Needless to say this one's not getting my vote, but hey if someone out there's bored, more power to him/her. |
Default lotuscript code templating (17 Dec 2007)I've been using a cliptray for code templates for years now (I think it shipped with w2k's resource kit). Saves me the time of typing out the basic framework for a function/sub (things like error handling etc.). I for one would welcome a feature to hold stuff like that (especially if you can share the repository with the rest of the developers in a team, so everybody can at least start off from the same base) |
Since MAPI-support has been removed, Notes should have a standard API to access email functions (27 Nov 2007)How about the fact that you need to have OUTLOOK installed (no need to configure it, it just needs to be installed) if you want to be able to use the 'Send to mail recipient' functionality in the other Microsoft Office products |
Allow easy remote access (telnet/ssh) to the server console from Linux (15 Nov 2007)isn't there also still the old cconsole? requires an id file if memory serves me right. |
Lotusscript console/shell (09 Nov 2007)At least you have something like that for @formula through text fields in the client. Enter your formula and press shift-f9 |
Allow me to move the properties dialog to my other monitor (09 Nov 2007)Actually, this does work with R8, both standard and basic/classic mode :-) |
Allow me to move the properties dialog to my other monitor (08 Nov 2007)Nope it's not just you, it's yet another annoying feature. if anything at least open the properties on the display that it's called from. |
Allow user defined 'property box on/off' setting (08 Nov 2007)completely forgot about that one. |
New view export/import formats (*.XLS) (08 Nov 2007)Either add the option to import odf/excel spreadsheets, or at least add the option to save spreadsheets in 1-2-3 format from the spreadsheet program that's integrated with R8. |
Pop-up Status Bar doesn't update in Notes 8 (08 Nov 2007)Yes, and while we're at it, can the number of lines that it shows be expanded? |
Allow URL links to be clicked in edit mode (08 Nov 2007)I agree with Grant, the control-click thing would be nice, and I'd like to have that extended to DocLinks as well. |
Properties Dialog Box (08 Nov 2007)resizing would be nice, but how about being able to select & copy things like database path from the properties? |
Allow an ID to be selected to sign a database with (08 Nov 2007)True. They make some excellent tools but I find their pricing a bit steep |
