@WeekNumber - calculate the week number from a specific date (22 Jun 2011)

can't belive this hasn't been done already! *sigh*

Tool to convert lotusscript into javascript (26 Feb 2010)

Different programming language are sure a thing given by history. But they may be still there because their serve a special purpose. So it should not be easy to transform one language to the other. Nor will there be a 100% solution. Knowing that, what would an automatic conversion be worth? It may be a good start for further development - not more, not less. So, I'll promote this one, but keep in mind: If anything of this will ever be implemented: It won't replace the developer, it just assist!

Lower Lotus licensing cost for students (11 Jan 2010)

@6 Sorry, but I have to disagree. Paderborn, Germany, is (was?) known for Prof. Nastanski, who preached Notes/Domino by conviction. Many of the professionals here in Germany known by me are from this university.

At least you can't tell teaching Notes/Domino at universities has no effect. As mentioned before, every student had the chance to get a personal licence to use the Notes Client/Designer. In my opinion this is definitetly a possibillity to breed a user-base!

Linked-In/PAB Synchronization (05 Jan 2010)

IBM built the possibility to seamless integrate calendars like the one provided by google by using a common API. Maybe there should be a simmilar (common) way to do so with adressbooks?!

Periodically verify Recent Contacts against Corporate directories (09 Dec 2009)

Do you remove users who left the enterprise form the NAB? I think here we just remove them from access-groups. So this idea would not help.

I'd like to point to an idea I head reding this one (and others): { Link }

Add Status column to exports (09 Dec 2009)

As I'm not using IdeaJam (except this Web-Application) in our company, I do not know this feature exactly. But I would suppose to build just one "big" export, which can be narrowed down in the application used to work with the export (f.e. Excel). What are the dates needed in such a "master export".

Do not get me wrong, I like having dedicated report-functionality: just keep this! But I'd like a complete export too, which can be filtered/sorted/etc. after exporting.

Generic filter in views (07 Dec 2009)

I know, this one is asking for complete flexibility. Maybe it's easier to just build a reasonable subset. It is one of those requirements which would be a snip in a RDBMS - but we're talking about notes :-(

So: What will be a reasonable subset?

"optionally" audit user activity in log.nsf (04 Dec 2009)

Sounds like big brother is watching you. At least it should be obvious for the user that he's being logged that way!

Some example from Germany: MS Word does not display, how long it took to create a document - it is forbidden by law!

Generic filter in views (04 Dec 2009)

@Vlad Sh
Sorry, but I think you did not understand what my Idea intends. I was talking about a different way to display given Ideas, other than now. I'd like to filter Ideas by serveral values. I did not describe how ideas are linked to each other or related to an ideaspace. Nevertheless I like your suggestions! Try searching for related ideas or open your own - I'll vote ;o)

The Insert Embedded view dialog should use a db open instead of bookmarks (04 Dec 2009)

@6: You're right! There have been ideas for this:
2007-12-02 { Link }
2007-11-14 { Link }

But unfortunatly nothing happend until now :-(
What about specifying the vew name too? As possible when embedding subforms.

"Open in Browser" in the context menus (04 Dec 2009)

This could be a sub menu showing "default browser", "Internet Explorer", "Firefox", ...

prevent switching to another ID (04 Dec 2009)

And where the heck does this user get another valid id-file? I do not think this makes sense...

Quickr Connector support for Windows 7 and 64 bit OSes (04 Dec 2009)

Do you remember? 640k is enough for everyone! - For sure a migration to uptodate architecture is needed.

The Insert Embedded view dialog should use a db open instead of bookmarks (04 Dec 2009)

I'd like to choose db (server/filepath) by @formula-statement to implement configurable apps.

Don't automatically create DB on replicator page when creating local replica. (03 Dec 2009)

Reading your description says, there are two different intenions to create a replica. One for personal use (adding is ok) and one for administrational use (no adding wanted). Maybe creating replicas in Administrator should not create an entry?!

Replicator fully managed manually (03 Dec 2009)

...unpredictable... - sounds more like some bugs, that should be fixed. I'd sugest a mix: A manual maintained list of dbs as well as a section containing automaticly added dbs.

Idea Jam Reference # (03 Dec 2009)

@2: This could be done by entering the number into the searchbox. Search should check if there is a direkt match to the number and present this match as first entry in result list or open idea directly.

It should be possible to open an idea by its number in an url. f.e.: www.idejam.net/idea/<number>

If you have DDE 8.5x installed and choose "view agents" from the Notes client DO NOT launch DDE (03 Dec 2009)

What about speeding up DDE to be compareable at terms of waitingtime? At least this is *not* an everyday task of an ordinary user. I agree with Vlad Sh.

Allow to add menus to view-context and document-context that execute @formula (03 Dec 2009)

Should be customizable, not a (cryptic) entry in notes.ini.

In the ACL define if the user can: Copy content, drag content outside Notes, export context, print view/document (03 Dec 2009)

Using such restrictions does not prevent anything - it adds hazards only. Ok, I'm no fan of this kind of restrictions, but I think it is easier to set one option than refining this option in 4+ options.

There is a need for integrity constraints in Lotus Notes applications (02 Dec 2009)

Notes does not provide constraints, and tht's the way it is supposed to be. Lots of Information inside a nsf may be entered in richtext, text or other "soft" datatypes. asking for constraints is like asking for a different databasesystem. Just to make this clear: I understand your needs, but in my opinion notes is the wrong system.

Different search dialogs (02 Dec 2009)

usability++! It is hard to explain different searches give different results and it is even harder to guess which search leads the user to the desired result. Putting this together would be great!

When saving an attachment, have a button to open it after the download (02 Dec 2009)

Is there any other app out there giving you such a feature? As it comes to me, I would say this is a somewhat unexpected behaviour.

Prevent user-preferences dialog (29 Nov 2009)

I hat locked down environments - got an VOIP-Client here locked to a special (complicated!) skin - terrible! Most users won't accept a pice of software without the abillity to play arround with some settings. So locking down special options will be the best way to keep users and administrators happy!

Save results of Recompile All LotusScript (27 Nov 2009)

Storing the results of RALS in a way it is accessible by all developers sounds good to me. The server log is the wrong place for this kind of information. Maybe we need sth new, f.e. in the way the "problems" are stored(?)/displayed in the designer?

Support Windows 7 Jump Lists (26 Nov 2009)

I'm split on this one: Using advanced features of a (new) OS is surely needed, but changing the behaviour of a multiplattform client and provide an inconsistent userexperience is not good.

I'll support this one, just to ensure LN is kept up to date and does not fall back behind competitors in the biggest market (Win).

Save results of Recompile All LotusScript (26 Nov 2009)

How sbout writing results to the (local) log.nsf?

Rewrite Trim / FullTrim function (26 Nov 2009)

Sounds good, but has to be an option/parameter. Maybe one should be able to add a list of unwanted chars?!

Add a 'Save and Replicate' option to Designer (26 Nov 2009)

What kind of save is meant here? Saving each single designelement? That's pretty much like working remote. Or is your intention more towards replicating when closing all designelements of a Database (sorry - Application)?

When thinking about the problems with xpages, auto build project and replication, I'm sorry, but I can't support this.

Even the first option (saving any designelement = replicating database) sounds not that good to me :-(

New database property "Inherit design and ignore exceptions" (26 Nov 2009)

Simply cleaning the "prohibit design refresh"-flag should be the better choice. This is a onetime action and resets db design to orginating template.

Support for workspace using drag and drop (24 Nov 2009)

Maybe an option controlling where new databases are put on the workspace is sth. to consider too! I'm using lots of pages and it is quite cumbersum to arrange databases the right way, without having the space between filled by databases I've opened...

Allow tabs on Workspace to be re-arranged (24 Nov 2009)

Ok, the workspace is not the environment we *should* use for working, but as long as there is no better way to arrange databases (sorry, meant applications), this productivity tool should be enhanced somewhat!

Disable modification of Hide when settings on RichText Fields (24 Nov 2009)

Should not be that easy... everythings richtext in notes ;o) - But indeed: Almost no user needs to manipulate hide/when while editing richtext-items!

Replace Admin client with Applications (NSF DB's) to do admin functions (24 Nov 2009)

@2 Would be a nice reason to switch to 8.5.x ;o)

Fix ?OpenForm method of the notes:// protocol (24 Nov 2009)

Hotfixing a running applictaion... May be needed sometimes, but adding a new form? This is not the way it's meant to be :-|

Open -> Search (Type to Find) feature should search in Contacts (24 Nov 2009)

You are thinking of sth. like spotlight in Mac OS? Type in a search and get a list of different informationtypes (applications, contacts, documents, ...) - Would be nice, but should be accessible via implementing an interface within an application.

Lotus Notes integration with SAP (23 Nov 2009)

Integration is provided via LEI (Lotus Enterprise Integrator) and can be implemented using the java-classes provied by SAP.

Lower Lotus licensing cost for students (10 Nov 2009)

Here in Germany, Paderborn, we had free access to the IBM Lotus Family. In fact our Prof. encouraged us to use Notes. We had an infrastructure and were able to call the server residing in the university by modem. - By modem? Yes this has happend in the early ninties. But I think it is still the same way right now (despite the modem!).

And, as you can all see, I'm still stuck on Notes ;o)

Develop Workflow to work in an XPage environment (21 Oct 2009)

@2: "future projections"? Best place would be LS2010! I still dare to dream ;o)

Develop Workflow to work in an XPage environment (21 Oct 2009)

This is a good one - for sure. But I think, a "real" Java-API is the road to go for. The existing JavaScript-API does not provide the whole functionality of the LotusScript-API. And a real Java-API will provide us the ability to implement LWF-Controls (for Todos or Decisions f.e.).

Add "Mark Private" option to the default options in Calendar preferences (20 Oct 2009)

Well, in my calendar more than 80% of all entries are *not* private. For me this does not make sense.

Reconfigure the Home Page of IdeaJam to include more community Highlights, activity, and Ideas (14 Oct 2009)

Some kind of configurable portal would be nice! Widgets to drag around and save settings per user, Editors picks, ...

Use more then one primary dictionary for instant spell checking (14 Oct 2009)

f.e. MS Word provides an option to detect language automaticly. Would be a nice one in Notes!

Display owner's "Top Innovator"-Score (14 Oct 2009)

@3 - sure is this understandable. But your score is computed by (afaik)
- count of ideas posted by you
- votes promoting your ideas
- votes cast by you
- ...

Knowing this does not help me understanding how my score is computed: By what number are these given numbers multiplied, added together, etc.? I do not know! All I am thinking of is some more transaprency about the score. Even worse: How big are these numbers for me? Where can I check this?

I am in Germany - people arround here hardly accept a system which they cannot understand. In my opinion this is a crucial factor for implementing reward-systems based upon ideajam - which again is a factor for acceptance of something like ideajam at all.

Last, but not least: The information is there. It has to be displayed.

create a Development and Test environment (08 Oct 2009)

Domino should provide a way to transport design /configuration from develop to test and production. Using the same db sounds not useful to me.

As a meeting participant, be able to forward invitation (not delegate) (06 Oct 2009)

Outlook allows this, but is this feature intended? Anyway: I'll promote - in Outlook it came in really handy!

Reference to another uidoc (05 Oct 2009)

This scenario does not sound robust to me.

Display number of unread mails for others to work smarter. (29 Sep 2009)

Unread marks are used in different ways by different people. Some leave their mails unread to remind them of working on that subject, some don't bother about unread mails, as long as they are in their "newsletters"-folder. Others do not even sort mail to folders, but keep them in their inbox - read or not. In any case I cannot agree that the number of unread mails indicates how busy the owner of a mailfile is.

Feature: Top Innovator of the month (24 Sep 2009)

american beer? thought there is just Heineken over there... ;o)

Make a FREE Notes Mail Client "Lite" for home users (21 Sep 2009)

I do not think notes can be reduced to a mail-client. Sure, spreading notes to the users to get them used to it is one way, but I think it should be more like notes should behave like the user expects.

Display owner's "Top Innovator"-Score (18 Sep 2009)

ok, Bruce - just put that application form for your IJICC (IdeaJam Inovation-Competence-Center) in my mail... ;o)

Launch Architect (18 Sep 2009)

This would be extremely useful when supporting LWF-applications! I know, the process database is "just a technical thing" used by the engine, but in real life it'll make lots of things easier, if this db would be somewhat more accessible by human beings!

@PhoneNumber (16 Sep 2009)

@Christopher Boote
Is this a worldwide standard? Did you ever sync a Nokia mobile with the PNAB? Doing so strips all spaces from your phonenumbers...

No standard - no @phonenumber

just my 2 cents ;o)

use of use @ThisName in Hide-When formulas (14 Sep 2009)

Maybe this is not the way to implement the desired feature. But I'm sorry: No idea how this could be done considering paragraphs. :-(

Link more than one Idea (11 Sep 2009)

@Michele: Good point! But howto "discover" ideas to link to? A simple drop-down-box may be not the best solution ;o) - How about an action in the context of an existing idea named "Create new related Idea"?

Make the keyboard shortcuts the same in the client and designer (11 Sep 2009)

As I may add: Use the same shortcuts in different Language-Versions: Crtl+C or Crtl+V or anything like that is the same, but Ctrl+B (Bold), Ctrl+E (Edit Document) and many more are different in different languages.

I'm using the english client, but many customers are using the one in their language. Using shortcuts may result in 'suprising' results...

Elect to remove Top Innovators (11 Sep 2009)

What about considering just the last let's say 3 Month? So it's possible for anyone to be "top" and continous contributing will be rewarded.

Allow fixup to be run monthly via program document (09 Sep 2009)

imho: Fix the problems causing a need to run periodic fixups.

Time component for out of office setting (09 Sep 2009)

There is not that much of a benefit in my opinion: You can turn the ooo-notification on/off any time of the day you like to. When taking a half day off, it just depends on you to turn it on/off at the right time.

Link more than one Idea (07 Sep 2009)

I think, so far you can just link to your own ideas. By this time it's somewhat meant that one idea is based upon another one.

Give us back a Lotusphere Europe (07 Sep 2009)

I saw both: LS Europe (Berlin) and LS Florida. If I have the choice I'll head for Florida! But economics are down and expences like this have to be justified.

But ask yourself (or better your boss): Will it be easier to go to Berlin ore Nice or where ever in Europe?

Asking my boss says: No! ;o)

Track Database Deletions (07 Sep 2009)

Let me get the point: Who can delete a database? An Admin? Wouldn't this Admin be able to remove his/her traces?

Use 3:2 aspect ratio for person photos in business cards (07 Sep 2009)

afaik the 1:1 format is very common in the web...

Presentation Skills Training (07 Sep 2009)

98% ack, but definitely *before* LS in january.

DB defined keyboard shortcuts (07 Sep 2009)

I'll support this one, as long as global shortcuts cannot be overwritten. Different shortcuts in one environment will confuse the user...

Make Domino Designer For Eclipse Faster/Stable (07 Sep 2009)

Did they address the problems concerning multiple developers working on XPages in the same database? This one is a real pain!

Propose Firefox as an alternative embedded browser on Windows (01 Sep 2009)

At least there should be an option to let you chose which browser"engine" to use. There are serveral solutions out there depending on IE as rendering backend.

BPMN-Editor for Lotus Workflow Architect (01 Sep 2009)

Architect could be integrated with Domino Designer (based on eclipse). F.e. using this: { Link }
