Different programming language are sure a thing given by history. But they may be still there because their serve a special purpose. So it should not be easy to transform one language to the other. Nor will there be a 100% solution. Knowing that, what would an automatic conversion be worth? It may be a good start for further development - not more, not less. So, I'll promote this one, but keep in mind: If anything of this will ever be implemented: It won't replace the developer, it just assist!

@6 Sorry, but I have to disagree. Paderborn, Germany, is (was?) known for Prof. Nastanski, who preached Notes/Domino by conviction. Many of the professionals here in Germany known by me are from this university.

At least you can't tell teaching Notes/Domino at universities has no effect. As mentioned before, every student had the chance to get a personal licence to use the Notes Client/Designer. In my opinion this is definitetly a possibillity to breed a user-base!

IBM built the possibility to seamless integrate calendars like the one provided by google by using a common API. Maybe there should be a simmilar (common) way to do so with adressbooks?!

Do you remove users who left the enterprise form the NAB? I think here we just remove them from access-groups. So this idea would not help.

As I'm not using IdeaJam (except this Web-Application) in our company, I do not know this feature exactly. But I would suppose to build just one "big" export, which can be narrowed down in the application used to work with the export (f.e. Excel). What are the dates needed in such a "master export".

Do not get me wrong, I like having dedicated report-functionality: just keep this! But I'd like a complete export too, which can be filtered/sorted/etc. after exporting.

I know, this one is asking for complete flexibility. Maybe it's easier to just build a reasonable subset. It is one of those requirements which would be a snip in a RDBMS - but we're talking about notes :-(

Sounds like big brother is watching you. At least it should be obvious for the user that he's being logged that way!

Sorry, but I think you did not understand what my Idea intends. I was talking about a different way to display given Ideas, other than now. I'd like to filter Ideas by serveral values. I did not describe how ideas are linked to each other or related to an ideaspace. Nevertheless I like your suggestions! Try searching for related ideas or open your own - I'll vote ;o)

Reading your description says, there are two different intenions to create a replica. One for personal use (adding is ok) and one for administrational use (no adding wanted). Maybe creating replicas in Administrator should not create an entry?!

@2: This could be done by entering the number into the searchbox. Search should check if there is a direkt match to the number and present this match as first entry in result list or open idea directly.

Using such restrictions does not prevent anything - it adds hazards only. Ok, I'm no fan of this kind of restrictions, but I think it is easier to set one option than refining this option in 4+ options.

Notes does not provide constraints, and tht's the way it is supposed to be. Lots of Information inside a nsf may be entered in richtext, text or other "soft" datatypes. asking for constraints is like asking for a different databasesystem. Just to make this clear: I understand your needs, but in my opinion notes is the wrong system.

usability++! It is hard to explain different searches give different results and it is even harder to guess which search leads the user to the desired result. Putting this together would be great!

Is there any other app out there giving you such a feature? As it comes to me, I would say this is a somewhat unexpected behaviour.

I hat locked down environments - got an VOIP-Client here locked to a special (complicated!) skin - terrible! Most users won't accept a pice of software without the abillity to play arround with some settings. So locking down special options will be the best way to keep users and administrators happy!

Storing the results of RALS in a way it is accessible by all developers sounds good to me. The server log is the wrong place for this kind of information. Maybe we need sth new, f.e. in the way the "problems" are stored(?)/displayed in the designer?

I'm split on this one: Using advanced features of a (new) OS is surely needed, but changing the behaviour of a multiplattform client and provide an inconsistent userexperience is not good.

What kind of save is meant here? Saving each single designelement? That's pretty much like working remote. Or is your intention more towards replicating when closing all designelements of a Database (sorry - Application)?

Simply cleaning the "prohibit design refresh"-flag should be the better choice. This is a onetime action and resets db design to orginating template.

Maybe an option controlling where new databases are put on the workspace is sth. to consider too! I'm using lots of pages and it is quite cumbersum to arrange databases the right way, without having the space between filled by databases I've opened...

Ok, the workspace is not the environment we *should* use for working, but as long as there is no better way to arrange databases (sorry, meant applications), this productivity tool should be enhanced somewhat!

Should not be that easy... everythings richtext in notes ;o) - But indeed: Almost no user needs to manipulate hide/when while editing richtext-items!

You are thinking of sth. like spotlight in Mac OS? Type in a search and get a list of different informationtypes (applications, contacts, documents, ...) - Would be nice, but should be accessible via implementing an interface within an application.

Integration is provided via LEI (Lotus Enterprise Integrator) and can be implemented using the java-classes provied by SAP.

Here in Germany, Paderborn, we had free access to the IBM Lotus Family. In fact our Prof. encouraged us to use Notes. We had an infrastructure and were able to call the server residing in the university by modem. - By modem? Yes this has happend in the early ninties. But I think it is still the same way right now (despite the modem!).

And, as you can all see, I'm still stuck on Notes ;o)

This is a good one - for sure. But I think, a "real" Java-API is the road to go for. The existing JavaScript-API does not provide the whole functionality of the LotusScript-API. And a real Java-API will provide us the ability to implement LWF-Controls (for Todos or Decisions f.e.).

Well, in my calendar more than 80% of all entries are *not* private. For me this does not make sense.

Knowing this does not help me understanding how my score is computed: By what number are these given numbers multiplied, added together, etc.? I do not know! All I am thinking of is some more transaprency about the score. Even worse: How big are these numbers for me? Where can I check this?

I am in Germany - people arround here hardly accept a system which they cannot understand. In my opinion this is a crucial factor for implementing reward-systems based upon ideajam - which again is a factor for acceptance of something like ideajam at all.

Last, but not least: The information is there. It has to be displayed.

Domino should provide a way to transport design /configuration from develop to test and production. Using the same db sounds not useful to me.

Outlook allows this, but is this feature intended? Anyway: I'll promote - in Outlook it came in really handy!

This scenario does not sound robust to me.

Unread marks are used in different ways by different people. Some leave their mails unread to remind them of working on that subject, some don't bother about unread mails, as long as they are in their "newsletters"-folder. Others do not even sort mail to folders, but keep them in their inbox - read or not. In any case I cannot agree that the number of unread mails indicates how busy the owner of a mailfile is.

I do not think notes can be reduced to a mail-client. Sure, spreading notes to the users to get them used to it is one way, but I think it should be more like notes should behave like the user expects.

This would be extremely useful when supporting LWF-applications! I know, the process database is "just a technical thing" used by the engine, but in real life it'll make lots of things easier, if this db would be somewhat more accessible by human beings!

As I may add: Use the same shortcuts in different Language-Versions: Crtl+C or Crtl+V or anything like that is the same, but Ctrl+B (Bold), Ctrl+E (Edit Document) and many more are different in different languages.

I'm using the english client, but many customers are using the one in their language. Using shortcuts may result in 'suprising' results...

There is not that much of a benefit in my opinion: You can turn the ooo-notification on/off any time of the day you like to. When taking a half day off, it just depends on you to turn it on/off at the right time.
