Runtime for NSF's (09 Feb 2009)

If it is just for client demo purposes, then Nomad (Notes client on a USB drive) is a decent solution.

One Content-Type fits all? (28 Jan 2009)

This would be extremely useful. I think @SetHTTPHeader is totally broken by the execution precedence of the context in which you can call it. I raised a similar idea about giving developers complete control over HTTP headers for any design element:

Project centric development in Domino Designer IDE (26 Jan 2009)

In 8.5, the Eclipse project metaphor is used to represent a single database, but the developer can manage multi-database "projects" by using the project working set feature.

This idea can therefore be marked as complete.

Release the LotusScript Editor when its ready and not wait for 8.5.1 (22 Jan 2009)

Great idea. I would go one step further and decouple designer entirely from the client & server release cycle. Making DDE an Eclipse plug-in that could work with Notes/Domino all the way back to version 6.5 would be huge, and go a long way to make up for all the years of pain that developers have suffered with inadequate tooling.

Open Source the Domino Product Line (22 Dec 2008)

Is there really a large community of C/C++ engineers out there interested in extending this product?

Document full text indexing (03 Sep 2008)

There is documentation, but it is buried so deeply the within the Notes client help that I always have trouble finding it:

It seems to have been updated for version 8 as well, as it now includes that very useful "IS PRESENT" condition.

Make null numeric values zero? (08 Aug 2008)

I agree with this idea in principal, certainly in the field specific error alerting, but at the end of the day I think it is just one of those quirks we have to live with in the schema-less world of Notes. Plenty of validation formulae in existing apps (@If(MyNumberField = ""; ...) would presumably break if they changed this.

On more than a few occasions I have seen formulae where the developer used NULL, presumably thinking it was a language keyword (which of course would evaluate to "" as long as there is no variable or field in the document context with the name "NULL").

Agent - Treat content as HTML (08 Jul 2008)

Print "Content-type: text/xml " & Chr(13)

Extend @Formula using Java (29 May 2008)

You can do this today using the C API. There were also a couple of 3rd party products available back in the day ("Formula One Toolkit", @YourCommand).

I pretty much agree with the previous comment - it sounds like a good idea but would probably end up being abused.

Optimise LotusScript Conditional evaluation (15 May 2008)

Other languages provide separate "short-circuit" operators that do the lazy evaluation that you describe, I would much prefer that than changing the behavior of an existing operator or introducing a new compile option.

Using VB.Net's AndAlso and OrElse syntax might make sense.

concurrent version system for c/java parts and code-bin (07 May 2008)

Great idea. Setting up a SVN server should be a no brainer, and would be very beneficial once more and more projects become plug-in based or use composite app components.

Add IDE capabilities for JavaScript in Eclipse-based Designer (04 May 2008)

A while back I wrote a plugin for Aptana using the com.aptana.ide.core.protocols extension point to hook directly into a Domino database via a local Java API connection. It uses the DXL to write to and from the database from the Aptana editors. Its not exactly feature complete, but it is in the public domain now and could easily be extended to work with form JSHeader events etc... or you could just wait for 8.5.

Application (Database) Block List for Debugger (28 Mar 2008)

I also think we need to be able to set breakpoints within the designer IDE code editor itself (and yes, for gods sake deprecate LotusScript's "Stop"), and by default the debugger should only activate when any executing code hits a breakpoint. Isn't this how Visual Studio, Eclipse and the like operate?
