Allow developers to use a stylesheet to format view and form action buttons/bars so you don't have to go through the action bar properties for all your views if you want to change design.
Like many of us, I use hidden columns in views for sorting, row coloring, etc. I also get confused sometimes when looking at the design of the view and trying to figure out which columns are hidden and which aren't.
I think it'd be very useful if the designer ...
@dblookup should allow you to look up on multiple categorisations as you can using lotusscript view.getdocumentbykey. You should be allowed to enter in a text list so that each item is looked up in a catogorised view.
Now you can only specify 1fix text label for Notes view column titles.
It would be very usefull to be able to specify an @Formula to define Notes view column titles. Especially in multilingual environments, where you can use @formula to show the column title in the user's language.
i would LOVE a new column "type" in a notes view, for lack of a better term called an "inline response column" ... This would be similar to the "display responses only" column, except that it allows me to add multiple columns for response documents, allows me to do totals for ...
This applies to the GetView method of the NotesDatabase object. It would be FANtabulous if the compiler could display a list of the views currently defined in the database when you hit the open-paren while typing the code. This behaviour would be similar to the function header autocomplete stuff.
Currently when expanding a category, all other categories collapses. This is annoying for a user.
while expanding a category, retrieve only the children nodes/rows and insert under the category. (rather than refreshing the entire page).
This method might also have parameters to specify which columns to copy and whether to include column headers.
Using Private Views in Lotus Notes has always been a bit of a double edge sword.
They do have their obvious benefits and can work fantastically. Unfortunately they have their limitations, which on paper would be quite easily resolved with a little work.
The problem ...
It's possible to add an image from the image resources to a column in the view, but if we want to provide a thumbnail of an image that's attached to the document, in a Notes client, it's not possible.
It may need another option in the column properties to ...
If you use resortable columns in a view which contains categories, then once the user triggers the resorting all categories are deactivated and all documents are now sorted only according to the "resort-column".
While this behaviour can be sometimes useful it would be nice to have an option for ...
As an alternative to Views/folders, provide the ability to execute a query at run time that returns a subset of documents in the database and allow me to display these documents in a control similar to a view/folder. This is not unlike how datagrids work with SQL based languages. I ...
When you search in a view using LotusScript method FTSearch, if the database is FTIndexed, the view is filtered and sorted by relevance in descending order.
I'd like to specify a parameter to have the view filtered and sorted by view order, like if the database was not indexed.
If a database does not have a default view specified (which is easily done), certain areas of functionality don't work as intended -- especially when it comes to document collection operations (e.g. code that generates doclinks).
A co-worker recently encountered a particularly nasty issue in which looping a document ...
Call uidoc.refresh form an action button in embedded view reliably crash the Lotus client - in every version I have tried. There is much usage for this.
I sometimes have the need to not see the grand totals on View Columns. The client would much rather just see the Categorized totals. Have a check box in designer in the column box where Totals are specified to show or not show grand total.
It would be nice when there was an option where you could indicate some view column spacing. This is very usefull when you have a right justified column with numbers. In many cases this column is followed by yet another column with left justification. Now I have to enter a ...
In views, that have sort on demand columns, it is often annoying to users, that the view might open sorted on a column other than the categorized one.
Could we get an additional on-open option to "Restore as designed", thereby reverting to categorization and sorting as designed originally.
Right now we have "Embedded views with show single category","Private views", "@ViewSetInfo", "DB2 Query view". All of these solutions do nearly the same thing: Presenting the user only a dynamically filtered part of a view. None of these solutions works perfect.
A) Embedded View ...
We need the capability to join documents natively in a view in the notes client with out the need of DB2.
I suggest the following syntax:
[ FULL | INNER | OUTER ] [ LEFT | RIGHT ] JOIN left_selection_formula [ALIAS "fieldname1" AS "aliasfieldname1", ALIAS "fieldname2 AS "aliasfieldname2", ... ] ...
I need to allow my users to personalise their Notes application by picking colour scheme. The app in question is now 12 years old and is need of a bit of 'sexing up', it's also big & complex.
So I added a colour column to my view so that ...
The option to display an action button as a menu separator has only effect for sub-actions.
I find it hard to make it clear that certain actionbuttons can be considered as grouped. A horizontal menu separator could make this more clear.

I think the precedent has been set (with Shared Actions and Shared Columns); how about Shared Selection Formulas? I think they are a logical extension of what we already have. Additionally, I'd like to see Shared Form Formulas.
We seriously need to be able to programmatically refresh a view.
I don't know how many times I've modified a document on the back-end using some script, or through a DialogBox or something, and I have to fool a view to refresh by spoofing the keyboard buffer and sending ...
In XPages you can easily filter views by using an ftsearch.
Sadly after searching the result is not longer sorted (it sorted by notes-relevance, but nobody knows what that means).
Make this result sortable if the view columns are sortable, like in the notes client, where I can click ...
An design element I can add as an option to my view in display mode where I can specify what the information in the view contains.
For example when one of the table headers is labbeled CR, in the legend I can say that CR stands for Change Request.
If we want to display more than one views on a form/page, we have to display all the embedded views as Java Applet except one. Or we will have to use IFRAMEs to load multiple views of a form/page.
It will be useful if domino can show multiple embedded views ...
Sometimes it is important to present (display in a view) an individual collection of documents to a user.
Right now you can put them into a folder, which needs to be "private" so that it does not mix with other users, and you have to remove it afterwards.
There are a couple of similar ideas around, but one that could be very useful is just the ability to programatically run an ftsearch on the current view.
For example, a user is looking at a view categorized by project numbers and just wants to see all the categories ...
would it be so hard to get an @GetFirstDocument and @GetNextDocument function in comibination with the OpenView @Command?
Consider a scenario where I have documents of huge size (Organized in 15 tabs, Data captured in various phases, more than 100 fields). I can consider this single document as 15 different documents. I can design the application such that this document is saved as 15 different documents. Everything works ...
Add an option to the view column that would calculate the median value of all of the numbers in the column.
I get this request for median from "the statistics people" a couple times a year. Would be nice to show in a Notes view.
If a (web) user knows or guesses the name of a view, he/she can read the complete content of the view as XML using ?readviewentries.
Directly opening a view can be easily prevented using e.g. $$ViewTemplateDefault.
I know you can use url redirection, but those are server-settings, usually not available ...
Keywords are a standard in an application and it would make totaly sense to use the available alias ("xxx | 1") functionality. However if you want to use this keywords in views (which is very often the case as categories) then aliases are now totally useless.
Sometimes it would be nice, we could show documents from 2 ore more databases in one view.
An example is the display of appointments from a CRM database and the appointments from the
calender inside the users mail database in one (calender)view.
My apologies if this has already been posted.
I wish we could (and if we can now, I'd be happy to be corrected!) have a document hierarchy, but select in a view construction where to start in the hierarchy.
In other words.....I have an application
hej ready for another time-saver?
what if it would be possible to select 'copy style from view' AFTER a view has been created?
Ofcourse the only style that should be copied then would be display properties (colors, images, margins etcetera) NOT columns, view selection formula etcetera.
I find it very frustrating that I cannot have a list of forms open in the center pane and a list of e.g. views from the same app. Just add an extra tab for the views when the forms is already open.
anyone who has tried to use @IsCategory, probably to colour a view row will know just how strange this formula is, i.e. it's result cannot be used in any other formulae
Can we have it just return a True or a False instead, or at the very least make it work ...
It will be helpful if we have one or more design views that can list all design elements like Forms, Views, Pages, Outlines, Agents etc together. The view should have Click-sortable columns for design element type, Prohibit Design refresh etc. This will help developers while copy-pasting design elements, checking/unchecking the property ...
Allow me to specify the font characteristics, including row background color for the current (Active) row in a view. Much like I can for the outline entries.
Add a default focus property to an embedded view when used in a form or a dialog box.
Yes, I know we can 'force' a window title by naming the view anythng we want, but sometimes there are good reasons to want a different text string to appear (e.g. include the server)
It would be good to be able to acess external data in view columns, e.g. using of @getprofilefield, @getdocfield, etc...
Often I need to calculate a value based on a parameter in profile document, it would be good to be able to do that in view level instead of storing the ...
Just a simple time-saver for good looking views:
It would be nice to be able to sort values writing with a dot notation as an index
if you write an index as text with a dot notation and try this to sort in a column number .10 is placed above ...
how often do you need the full yadayada when using the ?readviewentries?
it would be nice to be able to specify the option that you want the output without the timestamp, position, toplevelentries ... info
Help from the latest version of the missing document (subj), which contained a table of icons and numbers, for use in the columns of views. This is inconvenient.
But, in principle, without it would be necessary, if in the columns with the option "Display values as icons" add a button ...
A possible solution to overcoming the problems associated with embedded views and not being able to sort the columns etc could be to set the selection criteria for the view at runtime - e.g. as a property of the embedded View object and not at the View level itself. This would take precedence ...
To view the code of Shared Columns have to open them, that creepy uncomfortable.
I propose to leave the background color of the system, but instead a common text (see screenshot) to display a formula of selected Shared Column.
Don't you wonder yourself what the extra value of displaying the same icon over and over again when you have only 2 options to be displayed in your column:
show icon X or show nothing
Instead, from a usability perspective I think it will be much "cleaner" to ...
When a Notes view is opened in DDE any change made requires a view refresh to complete before DDE continues doing anything else. With large views this can consume valuable time, especially when the change made is to the font of a column header which should not require a view ...
If you want to use a view as single category view, you always need to embed the view on a form or page. This results in some limitations for using the view ( like form formulas, document previews, actions for documents etc.).
There should be a "Show single category" ...
In the design client, with a list of all views, select all or some of them, and be able to change all the view properties (specifically alternate row colours, grid, exten last column to view width, unread colours etc.)
I would love it if while creating a view I could select a form and have notes create a view with all of the fields in that form.
This would be extremely useful when I am creating a view with many fields. Especially when that view is specifically used for importing data. Thank You.
One function I would really like to emphasize in an Action button is "Customize This View". It'd be really useful to make this view entry visible on the view.
Longer-range it'd also be useful to reorganize the view programmatically, so we could provide specific customizations for users to select. ...
I've always wanted to see an out of the box solution by IBM to provide developers the ability to create default views by form name. (Think Genereate Default Outline)
As this would be extremely helpful when trying to create 'flat' views for exporting and/or reporting purposes.
Manually creating a view ...
this would rather fit into various idea spaces since it touches the storage system of views. Within almost every database I know, many views have the same selection formula as other views, resulting in the same collection of documents. As far as I know these collections are all evaluated and ...
I sometimes want to view/compare several view selection formulas but I end up having to open each one. It would be nice if maybe in the properties tab you could see the selection formula. It would also be nice to see it when you right-click the view.
You already ...
Not sure how possible it is, but I have had many occasions where I would like to identify and delete duplicate documents in a view. Thanks
I'd like the ability to setup a view initially in any format that a user might customize it.
I'd also like the ability to program a particular custom forms for a view, hiding & rearranging the rows.
I'd like to be able to reset a view programmatically to ...
In the R&R or any other database
the total option for a column (tab 2)is pretty useless when the optoin is set 'display values as icons'.
much better would be to be able to provide a formula in combination with a custom icon, selectable from a resource or something
why can't we disable the ViewShowSearchBar @Command for a View?
Sometimes i use a view as a way to create a navigation menu in an application, but this gets messed up when the ViewShowSearchBar @Command has been used previously.
please add a view option that the searchbar will never ever show up!
It would be useful to have the list of views in the Designer client either display the "Last Indexed" date or the "Last Accessed" date, which are already stored and accessible in the properties, in a column, so that it is easier to determine which views are no longer used and ...
Aliases in fields are a nice way to use short values in place of longer strings, and they work well in forms. You can store a value of "H" and have it display "High" when the document opens. However, they are not so nice when you want to use the ...
I wish we could specify some sort of "replication priority" on view level. The purpose is that the designer can to some extent tell the replicator what documents that should be replicated first.
For example may a view full of configuration documents be more important to the functionallity of the ...
A special kind of view that can show documents that exist in memory only; are not saved to disk. This way I could compute joins on documents and "save" them to the in-memory document that would be shown in the view. Essentially any time I would create a stub document ...
In case of a View which support response hierarchy it will be better if we were able to Hide a row base on a column value .
If this is set at a view level.
If we arrange document is hierarchy
response to ...
I am working on a View in an ordering system and I would like to display the correct weights for orders.
It would be handy to be able to select a number format as Weight for the column so I would not have to worry about the correct conversion ...
It would be great to have ability to use values of document fields in twistie image formula of ViewColumn. It is possible for column values, why not for twistie image formula?
It would be nice to have the option to highlight a document in a view and have the highlight move to that document when you switch to another view in that database. Sometimes it is necessary to see a document in a different context. For example, from a view containing ...
