Overhaul the Replace Design Dialog

: Domino Designer
: designer, design, template, dialog
Richard Schwartz3723 - 04 2007 / (3)
Let us navigate the folder hierarchy when selecting a template.  Let us browse outside the data directory.  At a very minimum, even without a hiearcichal view, let us display titles, template names, filenames and dates, and sort on any of them!  Let us filter by type (NTF, master template, and ...

Right-click action "Open application's template in designer"

: Domino Designer
: designer, templates, template, right-click, master
Gregory Engels1762 - 13 2008 / (4)
Since master template name is not the same as database name, which is shown in the "open application" dialog, there is no easy way to find and open in desinger the template wich is responsible for application's design. The technology for searching is already in place - it is been ...

Ability to refresh/replace a database design via code

: Domino Designer
: template
Michael Sobczak2969 - 31 2007 / (3)
Creating a toolbar button with @Command( [DesignReplace] ) saves a few keystrokes at best.  Wouldn't it be nice to be able to replace a database design using formula code or LotusScript?  I know that the Designer task accomplishes this, but what about those times when you don't have access to ...

Show template bookmarks in designer in another color than databases

: Domino Designer
: template, bookmark, color, designer
Angi Blasberg634 - 11 2008 / (0)

Often a "live" database and its template are both open in the designer i.e. if you had to change agent schedules. You can't really differ the database from the template. Often it happens that you made changes in the database by mistake and with refreshing the db you are loosing ...

Decent (error) report when trying to refresh a design

: Domino Designer
: design, refresh, template
Patrick Kwinten22013 - 24 2008 / (0)

When a design refresh initiated via the Designer client fails one of the few ways to see 'what' and 'where' things went wrong is the statusbar.

Not really a helpful way of reporting and a bad start to start your research in the cause.

User .jar files must be considered a design element

: Domino Designer
: xpages, template
Wim Stevens645 - 10 2010 / (0)
When creating an XPage we need to write business logic.  In order to have reusable business logic (that may be called from an agent, a Notes Form or an XPage) the business logic must be written in Java.
The Java code is best placed in a .jar file.
The jar ...

Make Blog Template Mobile (BlackBerry) friendly!!

: Domino Designer
: blackberry, web, mobile, template
Marvin K153 - 04 2009 / (0)

RSS feeds work pretty well on the BlackBerry--but if you click read story on any blog that uses the 8.5 blog template, it goes to the website and it looks pretty lousy.  The tag and header sections hog up the top of the webpage, and then you have to zoom ...

Develop and open source a high quality framework for new DBs

: Domino Designer
: framework, template, open source
Jan Schulz4393 - 05 2009 / (2)
The template should have some modern UI for all kinds of elements and implement some generic, high quality solutions for field level trails, pushing changed values to other docs (even in other DBs), logging, validation, localization, help... and it should have proper object orientated, modularized and reusable code, which you ...

XPages template/framework based on (incorporating) IBM Design Language

: Domino Designer
: xpages, outline, template, framework, core controls
Mark Rowan42 - 29 2014 / (2)
IBM has recently published a set of guidelines/best practices for "making delightful products and enlightening experiences"

{ Link }

Would it not make sense for IBM (or someone else for that matter) to publish/submit a baseline template that incorporates the "IBM Design Language" so that ...

Make NTFs viewable in Web browser

: Domino Designer
: template, web browser, xpages
Peter Presnell26654 - 16 2010 / (4)
As best as I can tell there are two key differences between the way an NTF and a NSF operate.  1) Scheduled agents will not run in an NTF, and (2) An NTF cannot be viewed in a Web browser.  With the push towards doing more Web development  (including XPages) it ...
