Like many of us, I use hidden columns in views for sorting, row coloring, etc. I also get confused sometimes when looking at the design of the view and trying to figure out which columns are hidden and which aren't.
I think it'd be very useful if the designer ...
Now you can only specify 1fix text label for Notes view column titles.
It would be very usefull to be able to specify an @Formula to define Notes view column titles. Especially in multilingual environments, where you can use @formula to show the column title in the user's language.
Right now you have to use „fixed“ text values in column titles. This makes it difficult to design multi-language applications as it is not acceptable to create several copies of a view only to get proper titles on it. Everywere else (forms,outlines,... )we can easily compute texts so ...
Add the ability to designate alternative title text for column titles that would display when the mouse hovers over the column title. Useful for providing more details when using abbreviated text in titles somewhat similar to Field Help.
Just like excel does...
I sometimes have the need to not see the grand totals on View Columns. The client would much rather just see the Categorized totals. Have a check box in designer in the column box where Totals are specified to show or not show grand total.
I think it would lead to some really cool view designs if developers could lock certain elements in place.
1. When choosing to share a column in a view, an additional option to replace the selected column with the newly created shared column would be beneficial
2. when inserting or appending a shared column, the dialog should stay open to allow you to insert more, or simply allow multiple ...
Every time you save a Shared Column you are prompted if you want to save you changes. There should be a "Don't display this again..." option on the dialog box.
Or is there already a notes.ini setting for this?
It would be great to be able to create a calculation in a categorized column which references other column totals. Currently the Totals property for a Column only allows the option to calculate based on the values of the selected column (Totals, Average per document, Average per sub-document, etc).
for the designer the adjusted width of the columns is being recognized the next time you open designer.
but to my opinion the ordering of the columns may also be adjustable.
if i work as a single designer on a database the appearance icons have more value that ...
Whenevr a view is defined to have a heading with more than 1 line it would be nice to be able to specify the vertical alignment of the column titles. Currenty view titles default to a "top" vertical alignment. In many applications I would prefer to see column heading aligned ...
I'm shure, I'm not the first and not the last....
I need an @Function to calculate the calendar week of a specific date.
The function should be like @WeekNumber(date; format) with format = [calendar (gregorian, julian, ...) / region / ISO-8601 / etc.].
I know, there are a ...
in case the @dbcolumn function could use the programmatic name of a column instead of the columnnumber it would be easier to make updates on views.
anyone who has tried to use @IsCategory, probably to colour a view row will know just how strange this formula is, i.e. it's result cannot be used in any other formulae
Can we have it just return a True or a False instead, or at the very least make it work ...
Note This keyword is new with Release 8.5
Returns the name in the form of Lastname, Firstname when a common name or a hierarchical name is provided. This is especially usefull when used as in a column formula, since it allows to sort the names bibliographically.
Just a simple time-saver for good looking views:
It would be nice to be able to sort values writing with a dot notation as an index
if you write an index as text with a dot notation and try this to sort in a column number .10 is placed above ...
the total option for a column (tab 2)is pretty useless when the optoin is set 'display values as icons'.
much better would be to be able to provide a formula in combination with a custom icon, selectable from a resource or something
We have notesViewEntry.IsTotal, but I was just working on something and would have loved a quick way to notesViewEntry.GetTotal.
Sure, workarounds abound, but thought this would be handy.
I am working on a View in an ordering system and I would like to display the correct weights for orders.
It would be handy to be able to select a number format as Weight for the column so I would not have to worry about the correct conversion ...
