Idea:

I would like that the size and location of pop-up screens, like the file selection box, are remembered when you restart the Notes Client.

There are some other screens where these attributes are kept, like the open database dialog.

I would like to see the possibility of global variables. And with global I mean global to the application. I think that the declarations section of the database script is an excellent place to store them.

Wouldn' t be nice when you could get hold to the uidoc pointer of another document? Suppose the following case: you have a parent document and a child document. In thsi child you change some attribute and you want to reflect this in the main document. when the main document is in edit mode there is no problem, but when it is not, there is a problem. Of course you could save the modified attribute on the back-end. Bu t you want to see the new value on the front-end too.

When you have a pointer to the parent's uidoc available you could use this to modify the front-end of the parent.

Comment: One of the weaknesses in the current DOM used by LS is that you can only get a handle on a single UI document even though many documents may be open inside the Notes client. I would like to see a way provided to access a list of all open UI documents.

Comment: I agree with Peter. You can sort of get around this by using framesets and navigating through them, but it makes for some tortuous application logic.

Something like notesDocument.updateUIDocuments() or notesDocument.publish().

Idea:

It would be nice when there was an option where you could indicate some view column spacing. This is very usefull when you have a right justified column with numbers. In many cases this column is followed by yet another column with left justification. Now I have to enter a very small column to improve the readability of the view.

Comment: In general I agree with this, but it needs to be thought out in pretty good detail...

Maybe you should probably be able to make two calls:

1. One to NotesUIDatabase to get a collection of all UIdocs open for that database, and,

2. One to NotesUIWorkspace to get a collection of all open documents across all databases.

I have to think about the security issues with #2.

Idea:

I would like to see a global boolean that shows whether or not DEBUG mode is on. This way you can add debugging code to your application that is only executed when you are actually running the debugger.

I am aware of the STOP statement, but this is different.

with ored-values like DebugJava, DebugLotusScript, et al.?

I once asked to enable debugging per database only, When I got mail in a debug session, and I opened it, I had to go through endless screens with Continue... A real PITA.

Comment: I'd also like to see directive that can be placed in functions such as %NODEBUG so that the debugger will always skip that procedure even if you attempt to step-through it.

There are often times wehen you hit F8 when you meant to hit SHIFT-F8 and then have to loop through a million lines of code that you know already work. Using the drop-downs to find the procedure entry point so you can add a breakpoint isn't always that easy

and while we are at it - debug in colour (as per code editor) and fix the anoying bug that always places the current line at the bottom of the code window!
