Idea:

The standard RGB color picker is just not enough for real application development. It would be better if the color schemes for an application can be stored in the application itself. Then, when developing, the stored colors in the database are the ones that can be picked easily (not the ones you stored last, like it is now).

Idea:

Did you ever open a document and wonder where a specific field is used? Of course, you can open a form in Designer, but then you don't see the value. So you'll have to go back to the client, look at that spot where you find your field and see what value is there, or check it in the document properties.

It would be a lot easier when you could just click a button that displays the fieldnames with a little tag above the field values when you're in a document. Some extra option you have as a designer.

Comment: Well... I partially agree. Could be core, could be 3rd party, but at least it can be a handy add-on. If it's a good idea, it doesn't really matter ;-)

I know, I did some research before posting this :-). I like the idea that is in SuperNTF, but I would prefer it to be a separate database.
Also, I have some ideas on what could be added as extra features.
One day... ;-)

Comment: All it needs is the "view" to be sorted. The underlying source can be in whatever order, of course. While we are at it, show an indicator for private/public and allow to sort on those. And show variables. Allow not showing any of the mentioned code elements. I mean I am just rattling off what you see when you open Eclipse.

Comment: Sorting would be nice (we requested this year after year at the BOF at LS). Manually re-ordering them by dragging would be a bonus (as sometimes you like to keep stuff together)

Idea: Sometimes I want only some paragraphs of text to be printed, and not the whole document. If the documents are large, I almost need a whole tree just to have those 2 paragraphs on paper.
If I want some text of a memo next to me (f.e. if I'm solving a problem described in it) I get the header, footer, reply history and other blabla in it too. I always end up with more than a single sheet.

An extra option "Print selection" would do the trick.

Comment: I have enjoyed this capability of WordPerfect for years. They introduced in the early 90's (as I recall), the ability to Save Selection and Print Selection. Very useful.

Comment: I wrote a tool to do this. It is based on DXL/DOMparser and sorting the child nodes of a (selected) design element.

I fully support, that this should be an integral part of the Designer.

Comment: Bruce, can the RSS feed for the idea include a link like you have provided so we can easily subscribe to the comments feed for a particular idea?

Also, I like Martin's idea and would like to see it. Perhaps when commenting on an idea we could be given a checkbox to start receiving notifications of future comments. Or when we just open an idea we could have a button to subscribe to the idea. A button will do and it can work like the voting links with the web 2.0 goodness behind it.

Comment: Slawek - simply look to the right of the idea title and there you will see an orange RSS icon. Click on it and presto - you have a link to the idea and comments for the idea. Let me know if you require further clarification.
