Notes Client / Other: Ability to Open in New Window

Author: David Camara
Tags: enhancement ui
Idea:

I would like to be able to right click on a link, a document in a view, a url or a workspace icon and select 'Open in New Window/Tab'. Better still, I would like to simply press SHIFT or CTRL and click to do this. This would make it easier to have two windows open with 2 different views in the same database for example.

Notes Client / Other: 'Open List' enhancement

Author: David Camara
Tags: enhancement notes
Idea:

I love the new 'Open List' specially the search however when you dock the open list the 'type ahead' search dissapears, only the catalog search is available. Idealy I'd like it to behave more like the sidebar and be resizable when docked with 3 possible sizes: hidden, collapsed, and expanded (showing labels and search).

Also the icons are much smaller than in previous versions which means some database icons don't display very nicely. The size of the icon (small or large could be set through the preferences for example)

Notes Client / Other: RSS entries reset as unread

Author: David Camara
Tags: rss bug ui
Idea:

RSS entries which I have read often show as unread when I restart my Notes Client.

Also it would be great to be able to hide read posts altogether.

I hope these are addressed soon as I think it is enough to make you switch to a different reader.

Notes Client / Other: Ability to manipulate Workspace

Author: David Camara
Tags: workspace notes
Idea:

I still use the old workspace to access my databases but I find we don't have enough visibility and control over it. Ideally I'd like to open the desktop.dsk and be able to see 'Icons by server', 'by page', 'by title', 'by date open', 'by replica id', 'by filename' ... as if they were documents in that database.

This would allow us to add icons programatically, remove them etc.

You could then add an option to check for 'broken icons', 'remove icon for specified server' for example.

Notes Client / Other: Positionning of Search Bar

Author: David Camara
Tags: bug notes search
Idea:

The new search bar is great but its default position doesn't seem right, it should be located at the far right (as it would be in IE anf FF). What's worse is that it does not remember where you place it and returns to the same position when you restart notes.

Author: Chris Whisonant
Comment: If you resize the client to a smaller window, it seems to default to the position you would like. But if you have a widescreen, it doesn't stick to the right but floats where it was before maximizing to the widescreen size.
Author: Ragnar Schierholz
Comment: You can right-click on a {doc|view|db} link or an existing tab already to get the "Open in new Window" command in the context menu! Having a keyboard modifier/shortcut for this would definitely help though.
