Idea:

Fix clustering to automatically failover to cluster mates when inside a database. Currently, if your server goes down while inside a database you get a "Server not responding" message and have to exit the database and then click the icon again in order to failover. This confuses users who, no matter how much you train them, forget to do this because it is not instinctive. They assume -- and correctly IMHO -- that they should failover even while in their inbox or composing a message.

There is a current technote on this issue and it has been SPR'd, but I decided to post it here anyway to try to put some wieght behind it.

Much work was done with cluster failover in the Notes 8.0 client and it even supposedly addresses the failover when composing a message, etc... I agree that it has needed some work.

Comment: R8 already does that - it pops up a message saying something like "server X is not responding, so your document has been saved on server Y". No more confusion, no more closing and reopening the database.

Since this exists in R8, I am demoting this request.

Comment: I will have to test this more thoroughly in ND8 based on the comments. I will admit that my testing of cluster failover with N8 was a year ago on the Beta 1 build.

The technote referred to above applies to all clients from R5 - N8 and states:

"In order for you to fail over to the database on ServerB, you must first get out of the database on ServerA and re-click the icon for that database. It is at that point when you will fail over to the replica copy on ServerB. If you do not get out of the database on ServerA and attempt to do something in it, you will receive a "Server not Responding" error message."

Add the ability to designate alternative title text for column titles that would display when the mouse hovers over the column title. Useful for providing more details when using abbreviated text in titles somewhat similar to Field Help.

Currently when agents are scheduled to run more than once per day every 1 hour, for example, they will run based on the last time that the agent ran which is dependant on when agent manager is launched in Domino. For example, if the server comes up and loads Amgr at 12:24, your agent will run at 12:24, 1:24, 2:24, etc. This can make it difficult to schedule agents to run that are dependant on other agents running without chaining agents with NotesAgent.Run in the code which is not always preferable. Therefore, I would like to add one more option to the Run Agents More Than Once a Day dialogue box that allows us to specify at how many minutes past the hour the agent should run. For example, you would be able to schedule agents to run at 15 minutes past the hour every hour.

Note: even though I did not include it on the screeshot, there would need to be a checkbox that forces you to enable this option just like there is for the Start Running Agent On This Date field. I am NOT suggesting a change to the default way agents are scheduled!

Comment: I think it makes about as much sense as being able to tell an agent to run at 2:00am every day. While agent execution times are not exact due to many factors, they do not have to be for this idea to work. I suppose it would have been better if I had said "put agents in the queue at XX minutes past the hour", but that is not the terminology that IBM uses. I would expect that if agent A is set to run at 15 minutes past the hour every hour that it would get no more preferential treatment that any other agent and would run when agent manager is able to, even if that isn't until much later. The point is to be able to run agents one after the other while at the same time allowing them to run multiple times a day without restoring to calling or chaining agents from LotusScript.
