<div>Allow Sametime users to see if someone is Out of Office (instead of just unavailable).&nbsp; This would save a lot of time and effort for users who currently try to get hold of somoene but only find out they are OOF by sending and email. &nbsp; As part of the CIO&nbsp;Innovation Fund, we provided some development funding for a Proof of Concept to do this using Notes Client.&nbsp;&nbsp; The team who worked on this were Sowmya Lakkappa,&nbsp; Mamatha J Venkatravanappa and Preeti Mudaliar.</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>However, the team were not able to overcome the difficulty of having notes reside on more than one server.&nbsp; As a result, the tool worked but could not be deployed for general use as a plug-in through TAP.</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<div>The team are available to help demo this and transfer their work if the Sametime Product or any other team are willing to take this up. &nbsp;</div>

<div>See project presentations and video attached&nbsp;</div>

This sounds like an internal IBM funding issue. Why don't you get permission to post your work to date as open source code on openntf.org then the community could finish off the work you have began?

Interesting suggestion Carl - thanks. I'll try that approach.

Hello John, this is a very useful suggestion. I have recently posted a different idea for offline status. You can check it out here - { Link }

I personally believe that there is a gap in the whole offline/out of office communication. Currently, 'out of office' notification is the only way to know when the person, that currently is offline, will be available. However, out of office notification usually comes through after some time when you send an email. What is more, people tend not to update their out of office if they are on the short leave (less than a day). I believe that both ideas could be used and I would like to get involved.
