Ability to tell AdminP to not remove a name from a document for deletion requests

:Domino Server / Admin Tools
: adminp, name
Michael Sobczak2837 - 20 2007 / (12)
In custom Notes applications, user names are typically stored in Reader, Author or Names fields.  If the database's ACL has the "Modify all Names fields" setting enabled, AdminP will update the user's name in all Reader, Author and Names fields in accordance with a name change.  However, when a user ...

Allow easy remote access (telnet/ssh) to the server console from Linux

:Domino Server / Admin Tools
: administration, admin, console, server
Daniel Silva454 - 14 2007 / (10)
We are currently "tied' to the Domino Administrator client which currently only runs on Windows.  I'd like to be able from a Linux client to telnet/ssh to the Domino server's console and run any commands remotely w/o need any special "client' to connect to it.  Authentication would be done via ...

Server NSDs: Send to IBM automatically when created

:Domino Server / Admin Tools
: nsd, crash, support
Mike McPoyle397 - 17 2009 / (8)
As I was zipping up some NSDs and sending them to IBM from a recent server crash, I wondered how efficient this really was?  How many times does a server crash, and it's so rare that the crash is never reported?

Creating a PMR isn't difficult, but I'd much rather click an ...

An IBM provided NSD crash file analyzer

:Domino Server / Admin Tools
: nsd, crash, analysis
Hans Christian Koch1362 - 12 2008 / (6)
IBM should/could provide an application (possible even embedded in the Admin client) that could take an NSD crashfile and parse it; Remove all the irellevant information, find the virtual/physical threads that had crashed, maybe even the NoteID of the document/designelement that caused the crash.

Wouldn't that be awsome. Seconds ...

Make name change behavior configurable

:Domino Server / Admin Tools
: adminp, names
Michael Sobczak2837 - 18 2007 / (5)
Make it possible so that you can tell AdminP to only process name changes, and not deletes.  That way, you can have the advantage of the Domino Server updating all Names fields WITHOUT losing a person's name forever when they are terminated.

Without this capability, having AdminP process name ...

Lotus Forgot Series: Make MTBF an integral part of the server software (was in the Sandbox)

:Domino Server / Admin Tools
: mtbf, mean time between failures
David Hablewitz15116 - 29 2011 / (5)
I have the latest copy of MTBF posted on my website: http://blog.thenotesguyinseattle.com  MTBF is a fantastic tool that tracks up-time statistics and mean time between failures and logs it in a database. Once upon a time it was posted in the LDD Sandbox. It didn't work quite right with ND8, ...

Extend the 'User detail' info of a database

:Domino Server / Admin Tools
: user detail, access, delegate
Mathieu Pape8090 - 28 2012 / (4)
Currently it only shows who has read, written or deleted documents but you cannot make out which documents were involved. We have many cases where documents "magically" disappear and where it would be nice (or even sometimes we are being asked) to be able to show who did actually delete it.

Better Archive criterias

:Domino Server / Admin Tools
: archive, mail, administration, policy
Enio Basso860 - 30 2007 / (4)
Today when enable an archive criteria for a mail database we have only 2 options:

  • Not modified
  • Expired
I´d like to the use more complex archive criteria like:

  • Archive Bigger Documents
  • Not archive documents with attachments like .mpg, .mp3, .wma, .jpg
  • use an ...

Make iNotes mail Redirector Application Cluster Aware

:Domino Server / Admin Tools
: inotes, redirector, webmail, dwa
Keith Brooks6439 - 14 2010 / (4)
This is something which could be done and should be done but hasn't.
Probably because big customers have the money for IP Sprayers/load balancers.
But if this is a thorn in your side as an admin or as a user vote for it.
In my session at The View conference ...

Direct execution of server commands from program documents

:Domino Server / Admin Tools
: program document, server commands, tell commands, administration
Richard Schwartz4594 - 16 2010 / (4)
Currently, program documents can only run programs.  They can't execute server commends, like 'route *' or 'tell router quit', etc.  Of course, they can run a program that executes a command, and while it's not actually documented anywhere that I can find, it is pretty well-known that you can run a ...

Move mail controls to Policy for granular application

:Domino Server / Admin Tools
: mail, policy
Bruce Stapley220 - 18 2008 / (3)
Restrictions such as quotas, attachments limits, and "user rules mail forwarding" -- all currently configured in Server Configuration documents, and therefore having a minimum granularity level of one server -- should be moved to Policy settings, since these are restrictions that apply to users, not to servers.

Updall task: Add option to Delete View Indexes

:Domino Server / Admin Tools
: updall
Mark Demicoli10736 - 27 2013 / (3)
This option would be useful to clean out databases of their indexes in a similar way as the tool in the Admin Client to purge view indexes.

Note: The -R switch rebuilds views that are currently indexed.  It does in effect purge existing view indexes but builds them afresh which ...

Allow agents executed using server command "tell amgr run" to be seen......

:Domino Server / Admin Tools
: agent, manager, server, console, command
Tim Brown1096 - 12 2008 / (3)
Allow agents executed using server command "tell amgr run" to be seen using server command "tell amgr sched" and "tell amgr status"

Unfortunately, there is no way to see how long an agent is running or has ran that has been executed using the following server ...

Include ODS version in Catalog and Domain Catalog

:Domino Server / Admin Tools
: catalog, ods
Chris Hudson249 - 04 2011 / (3)
Currently going through an exercise of upgarding all of our servers to ODS51.  One thing I think would help immensely in the exercise would be to have the Catalog and by extension the Domain Catalog, include the ODS version of the database in the information it gathers.

Server Console: Different colour for console commands / responses

:Domino Server / Admin Tools
: console commands
Mark Demicoli10736 - 11 2012 / (3)
When issuing console commands, it can be difficult to see task response to your command on a busy server as there is a lot of scrolling going on.

It would be nice if console commands were inverted (ie white background black text, or something else that makes it stand ...

Message Recall available to Administrators (SPR # Included)

:Domino Server / Admin Tools
: message recall, journal, administration
Jeremiah Benjamin804 - 04 2014 / (2)
I requested that IBM add a new Role in the ACL for "Message Recall" ability so Admins or other designated users can Recall Messages on a user's behalf.  (I'm not going to be dogmatic about the method...I merely suggested the ACL Role because it seems a natural way to assign it and retain security.)

An improved forms based GUI for Notes.Ini variables

:Domino Server / Admin Tools
: notes.ini, server, administration
Scott Edwards177 - 27 2007 / (2)
Currently Notes.ini variables on the server can be set in a few ways; by directly editing the Notes.ini, using the Notes.ini tab on the server config doc, or issuing a set config <variable>=<value> command at the console.

Some notes.ini settings are set through various options in both the server ...

Check NSD.exe version on server startup

:Domino Server / Admin Tools
: administration, nsd
Chuck Hauble870 - 11 2007 / (2)
Having an incorrect version of NSD.exe on a server can be a nightmare when trying to troubleshoot server crash issues.  Could the server process at start up check to see if the correct NSD version is available based on the version of the server code and display a warning if ...

Way to synch HomeMail server with admin server on the mail file or admin server column in files view

:Domino Server / Admin Tools
: mail, homeserver, adminp, administration, administrationserver
David Killingsworth4000 - 13 2008 / (2)
How many times have you setup a user on a particular mail server.  Their home server in their person document is correct, and then administration server setting in the database properties of their mail file is correct.

Next, thea move offices from Sao Paulo to Singapore.  You create a ...
