I do not know how hard this is to create but what would be a timesaver for a lot of us is to create some default content for a rich text field in Designer and have it generated in the Notes client.

For example for new documents I would like to have a table in the rich text field. Nowadays I could create a table via lotusscript in the rich text but then it comes to programming. Especially if you want to have good looking tables it takes much more work.

A timesaver would be to define already the table in Designer and show it in Notes when creating a new document.

Patrick, this would mean that a developer needs to set this default somewhere in the design. Hard to maintain.
I usually solve this problem by allowing the user to pick from 'RT-templates' (he/she or someone else has created as notes documents), to be copy/pasted in the RT.
You could set this up easily to have it copy/paste a default in a RT field at postopen.
I voted against.

Hej Theo, like I said I do not know what consequences such an implementation will have. At this moment I do it the same way you describe abd that takes some more effort. I recently heard about the undocumented uidoc.importitem(tmpDoc,tmpRTField) but I have not tried this myself yet...

Don't see reason why need vote against. It's pretty much like default field value for other non-rich-text fields.

We know mail signature in our notes mailbox where body is a richtext field and signature is default value.
Result is the same. We create new mail and get default signature. Only difference is signature content. It's not text and it's not file from disk.

Ofc I have no idea how it can be implemented but I can imagine databases where it could be useful. If it's something like Importitem method it's fine by me.

I find this idea good.
