Allow users to define the font characteristics for new mail and replies.
Use this IdeaSpace to post ideas about the Notes Client.
This would be similar to permanent pen, but you would not have have to turn it on/off.
Mac Mail.app makes this very simple. (as does Outlook I beleive)

Great idea. This is something that Outlook has had for a long time.

Great idea... I would like to see it in the policys as well. So that we can push out company settings without changing the mailfile design.
(20 Apr 2009)
Absolutely and with the new client and it's unified preferences dialog it should be an easy fix.
(20 Apr 2009)
Now now Jason. Product developers never like having outside parties tell them if somethings is easy or not. Let's just say "yes we want it", but leave it up to the coders themselves to decide if it is easy or not. For example, while you may feel creating a UI for the input is easy, perhaps the APIs don't currently exist on the backend to take that input and have the fonts actually update on the screen. If that is the case, then this is not "an easy fix".
(29 Apr 2011)
Now that this is available I have to say:
- it's implemented in an absolutely unintuitive way. This should have been a preference in the preference dialog and not an action in the text menu
- a possibility for admins to set this by policy is seriously lacking. Some organisations want to set this to comply with ther CI guidelines. And that's not possible right now.
Even worse: now the font settings of the Body field in the design of the Memo form are ignored.
