Nothing would prevent you by creating a cmd-file (formerly known as bat-file) with the following commands:

c:
cd "\program files\lotus\notes"
nfixup %1
ncompact %1
nupdall %1

and run it from a dos-box with the relevant filename.

Now that I an writing this, I came up with the idea to test if the utilities would return a status that can be checked in the cmd-file.

I agree that this isn't user friendsly. Perhaps it could be initiated by an adminisstrator to run on the workstation?

I also use a batch file to this depending on how 'tired' my computer is (actualy 3 seperate files which I combine as necessary)...

1) del "c:\program files\lotus\notes\data\cache.ndk"
2) "c:\program files\lotus\notes\ncompact.exe" "c:\program files\lotus\notes\data"
3) defrag c:/f

Are you saying you want end users to have to concern themselves with such technical innards of the system that require compacting and fixing and such? I know that it is required and I supposed every driver needs to know how to change a tire. But I would rather see a system where these things run automatically in the background as needed and in stealth maintenance mode keeping things finely tuned. That would be user friendly.

@1, @3 ... You can run Program documents locally, so thus, I would think that a batch file could be included in that. Honestly, haven't tried that permutation though.

Is it true that nfixup, ncompact and nupdall are only available if we installed Lotus Notes client plus Domino Administrator? I personally always have Domino Administrator with me so I am not sure if for majority of the users who don't have Domino Adminstrator, will they have these as well?

Yes, @8, those tools are installed locally by default.
