There should be a gloabl search on the "My Places" page to allow searching for documents and contents of ALL of the places that a user has access to.  As Quickr becomes a large repository of information whithin an organization, there needs to be a method of finding this information by searching all places.
Perhaps this capability is in 8.1, which we haven't installed yet, or in a third party product.  It should be standard with every installation.

It's not in 8.1 ... and I am stunned not to see this! I laughed when I saw this top of the quickr ideajam pile ... as I wanted this feature this morning!!

Just to clarify... there is cross quickr searching in the product (using domain indexer)and has been for quite a while - so you're just asking for it to be on the my places page?

Peter, I don't quite understand the "domain indexer", please explain

You can configure cross quickplace searching and enable the functionality through a qpconfig entry. Using Domain catalog and domain indexer you can search across all Quickrs you are permitted to see / use.

esplains it all...

As you can see above, I need to a) work on spelling and b) standardise when saying Quickplace or Quickr (been doing 'place too long).

The suggestion is to limit the search to only those Places that I have access to. I don't want to be offered a result that I cannot access. In addition, there is potentially a security concern - confirmation that an inaccessible document exists containing the phrase 'life exists on mars' tells me something!
