With 8.5x, Lotus added the ability to create, edit, and store your richt text signature in your mail preferences.
Next up: Allow us to set default font, size, color, and background for emails AND have different options for replies - some folks really really like to have the replies in discernably different color/font. Blue is a fav, for some reason.
Personally, I like Georgia, 11pt, black. It get's tiring have to either change every email, or change my template - and if I do that means I'm running an OFFICIALLY unsupported template.

I have had this request a number of time. It always surprises me that people need to have a specific font etc. But if its all about letting people do mail the way "they" want then this would be a logical next step....

Yeah - don't really get it either but people keep asking for it. Some (typically ex-M$ folks) very emphatically.
The other piece is that (while I'm no Ben "Rich Text" Langhinrichs), it seems like all the pieces are there to do it: you can manually set the background to an image, you can manually set the fonts, etc.
It's always seemed odd that this couldn't / wasn't "automatable".

I also get asked for this all the time. However, I can forgo the background. The amount of drive space consumed by some idiot creating a Hallmark-frilly-card like background is insane. And it's always gray. What's with that?

This is now solved in 8.5.2. But unless there's a policy allowing to set the font style globally this would cause problems with companies that want to apply their Corporate Design to mails.
