In the Notes Client, users can modify the hide when settings in a RichText field.
In multiple cases, it is preferred that the complete richttext item inherits the settings as designed in the form.
My idea is to add a flag to the field properties to disable the modification of hide when settings in a richtext field by the enduser.  For compatibility reasons, this flag should be switched off.

I used to have this problem when I started with Notes, but you soon learn. I have used hide whens in rich text fields many times to have the content reflect current environment.

The problem is when there is a hide when on the field and in the field they sometimes interact.

How would the end user know that they can't add a hide-when?

I agree 100%. I would suggest the number of times a user actually wants to add a hide-when formula to rich text would be < 0.0001% (On a good day).
3) Oliver Regelmann (24 Oct 2009)
I agree with Peter. I don't think there are many cases a user wants to add or modify a hide-when intentionally. But then you could display a message box if it's disabled anyway.
4) Rob Goudvis (26 Oct 2009)
I never thought it to be a sensible feature.

Should not be that easy... everythings richtext in notes ;o) - But indeed: Almost no user needs to manipulate hide/when while editing richtext-items!
