We currently print complex forms to PDF by launching a UI agent on a client that is always running on a desktop.
It would be nice if we could schedule a backend agent to print a document with form to either a network printer or to a PDF driver.

Would be great, but you would need the ability to change the 'printer driver' in the backend too. I'll post an idea for this.

What should be the scope for this change? Just the current code module, application wide or system wide? Considering other implications with OS level user rights, I would prefer this to be effective for the current code module only, to avoid possible exceptions and/or lots of configuration options.

I think it would work just as Theo suggests, something like this:

session.ActivePrinter = "HP LaserJet IIISi on \\printers\laser"

or doc.print "HP LaserJet IIISi on \\printers\laser"

And I agree, it should be limited in scope to the current code module.

This would allow server-side print processes as well.
