I've been working on some date & time columns and dojo field controls in XPages, trying to get backward compatibility with some earlier documents. It's tough.

1. Could there be a way to specify saving only the time portion of the field? I know the time zone ambiguity in old documents can be a real pain, but very often I don't want to preserve the date portion at all.

2. Date-only data settings would also be very useful to me, and probably to a whole lot more people. Sometimes that "12:00:00 AM" hanging out on the date field gets really annoying to rewrite every time through dozens of views.

3. Could Javascript have control over setting time-only or date-only values?

4. Aside, Designer 852 view columns tend to "pop" back to string presentation for most if not all substantial views, and I'm not sure why. Essentially, Designer needs to quit rewriting data settings just for the heck of it -- it makes it hard to impossible to edit from the graphical "Data" attributes for the column. It obliterates design settings that were created earlier. It does happen. I'm not sure why. I'm sure it's a bug of some sort, but I don't know what's causing it or how to resolve it.
