Currently there is greenhouse.lotus.com, DeveloperWorks, lotuslive, openntf, the notes forums and more. I would like to see the forums, wikis, articles, technotes and blogs all moved into to one site that supported activities, sametime and files.

You should be able to search across all of it and have a portal page that shows whats new in each section.  I shouldn't have to go to forums for questions, then search support for technotes and fixes and then go to to see what the wikis have to say.

Give us one cohesive community using the latest of Lotus products. And while your at it roll the forums up into one database that has sections for the release. You have to look at 2 or 3 forums to see if a problem is released based or not.

I feel your pain and applaud this idea. However, I cannot imagine the amount of work that would have to happen for this idea to work. While I don't think that we will ever see such a thing, I am still promoting it.

One problem with selection on releases is that not many people add the related version on their question or issue.
3) Bruce Lill6677 (23 Oct 2009)
@2 - I would agree so it could be a required field with multiple choices and include "all releases" as sometimes the problem isn't released based.

The forums seems grouped abnormally, 6 & 7 are together but 8 and 8.5 are separate. They should be by product.

The rest could be done with a mashup like what IBM has promoted.

I agree. The value of these sites get watered down each and every time a new one is created that is not coordinated with the others. I suspect a lot of people consume a lot of time "surfing". to locate what they are looking for.

This is a great idea...and a very big one with lots of facets (not to mention systems). :-) Let's talk in one of the upcoming community advocates meetings to see if we can break this down into some discrete requirements that we might be able to tackle in manageable pieces. We definitely want to make information easier to find....and use Lotus technology to do it!

@2 @3 Version should be a required field for any problem, qt. submission

@4 I would support an option for a multi-DB search option, that would handle all Notes releases or just the 8.0+ Notes versions for a client query--as an example. One does tend to look in mult DBs to see if an older doc has the error you see and a possible solution that the current DB lacks.

sorry... p.s. along with @1 I do not think it is technically feasible to implement the entire portal for all that gets released, but certainly a bit of consolidation and cross-search capability might be realistic. In that spirit, I promote it.

We think the recently developed IBM Support Portal does a good job of integrating the available technical information spaces. If you haven't bookmarked it yet, you can find it at: { Link }

On the Notes/Domino forums, we're moving to an XPages design in 2011. From that point on the plan is to accommodate multiple releases.
