I've never understood why a scheduled agent must have a document collection built.  Why can't I select "None"?

1) Tom Franks3077 (29 Nov 2007)
does it matter? does building the collection slow down agent startup?
2) devi das331 (30 Nov 2007)
document collection built means what in this situation?
3) Charles Robinson8913 (30 Nov 2007)
Could you explain why this is an issue?
4) Peter LaComb846 (02 Dec 2007)
I can see why a new Domino developer could be confused by this - seeing in the properties that a scheduled agent will run against all documents when in fact it builds a custom collection doesn't make much sense.

The option to set "none" would make sense.

Having a scheduled agent spend CPU cycles building a collection that you don't use makes no sense. I guess in the big picture, this isn't that important. However, I have heard that for larger databases, scheduled agents take longer to run as a result.
