I think on balance your solution would be worse than the problem. A single database would be too full of cruft.

My demote is mainly based on the fact, that it would be technically very difficult, to say the least. But I also have to point out, that there are probably at least as many differences in best practice between Notes 4 and Notes 8, as there are similarities. Even a duplicate question might lead to different results, depending on the version. On the contrary, just today I recommended the use of a NotesStream object in response to a question posted to the 6/7 forum, just to get the reply, that the code had to work on Notes 5 clients. I would rather not want more of that (even if the version field became mandatory.).

I found that the 4/5 forum holds more entries on the subject of C API than the 6/7 forum. So I scan both forums for these type of questions/ideas.

I wish that the Sametime and Quickr forums were also split by version - it would make finding solutions so much more straightforward...

A multi-database search feature could be nice. Then you still have the seperate forums by version, but if you need it, a multi-version, multi-database, search feature.

please leave the R4 rubbisch out of the R8 forum I would say.

but an improvement of the search function with the option to search over multiple forumns would be a great addition

I have just created this custom google search engine to search all 3 forums, it seems to work although I haven't played with this feature too much

Couldn't IBM use something like LEI to consolidate the individual databases into a single database. Users can vote with their feet as to which they find more useful.
