Currently (in version 7.0) the notes:// protocol function ?openform is not dependable. There are times when a user will get an error that the design element is not found, even if the form is in the database. (It apparently has something to do with if the form was in the database the last time it was opened from the client.) That is certainly NOT expected behavior. One would expect, if the form exists, it would be found, and opened.

I'm sorry I don't see this as being a major issue warranting any special attention. The explanation provided by IBM is this is only occurring in the case where a new form is added after somebody has opened the database. There are a whole raft of issues triggered by making changes to a production database while users have the database open.

If ?OpenDocument can't find a form that currently exists, that's not a perceived error. And the "after somebody has opened the database" doesn't mean they currently have it open, it's if it's *ever* been opened apparently. That pretty much makes it a useless function.

Hotfixing a running applictaion... May be needed sometimes, but adding a new form? This is not the way it's meant to be :-|
