I receive a ton of documents, links, zip files, images etc that my co-workers and friends share with me on sametime. From technical design documents at work to any outing snaps, my ST is full of links, files, documents that I usually save to a place on desktop which later I forget :)
To overcome the above issue we can have a search option in the chat history itself where we can have the option to look for saved location of all the links, docs, zip files at one place itself.
This can be implemented by having a new tab named “Attachments” next to the “Transcripts” tab.
Select a person from the left side bar from whom you have received the attachment. The “Attachments” tab will include all the files, links, documents that have been shared from the person till date. Now to search a particular document from the available list we can have a search tab for the attachments that have been displayed.

I do enjoy chat, but sometimes e-mail is the better solution. Searching through old chats --- particularly when the company policy prevents the Chat History folder from being populated, can make follow-up work quite challenging. Worse, is when the chat history for team member includes work from multiple projects in one linear thread. Folders help here a lot. Improvements herein would be welcomed by many, I'm sure.
