Server-side includes on HTML pages

Most web servers already support the ability to combine content from various sources into a single HTML page on the server but Domino does not.

Domino needs this!  An example is an HTML page which pulls content from Domino DBs into an otherwise static HTML page.  Some might say the page should be generated from the NSF but that's often not possible or convenient, especially when non-Domino graphic designers are involved.

The only workaround I know of it to use AJAX on the client to pull the content together.  But this can be a problem for users with disabilities and search engines do not walk the AJAX pulled content.

This is not much different than other HTML tags which pull in Javascript and CSS.

I agree! Typically you have a header or footer or some other html snippet that you would like to be displayed on several pages that are contained in different databases. Server side include would help there!

Why limit it to HTML pages only? There are times when I've needed to do SSI-type inclusions but didn't have the time to rewrite my existing Perl stuff into a Computed Text formula. If HTML only, it would be nice to have a server config setting to specify the file extension(s) that should be scanned for SSIs, i.e., either .shtml, or .html, or both, or maybe other things like .htm and .txt.

We have moved some content away from Domino for this very reason. And, YES, we need to be able to process SSI on various extensions as suggested (.htm, .html, etc.)
