I can't really think of one time in the last 13+ years with Notes that I have ever wanted anything like this. However, if this were to be done I would add one requirement which would be that it should be a database property that had to be explicitly turned on by a db manager in order to avoid accidental or intentional misuse of the feature as well as the ability to track who marked a document as read for all.
@2, Corey I do end user training and PA's that come from an Outlook background really struggle with the double handling that is due to them reading an email, then as their boss can't see that they have read the email, the boss then reads it & it goes on. IMAP doesn't marks a document read no matter who has read it. So in shared mail boxes for departments and for PA's this feature would be handy.
