I think it would be extremely helpful if IBM produced full-color object model diagrams / maps for Release 8.0 and 8.5 given that the diagrams were last updated in R6.5 and were available in PDF format.  Having a visual represenation of the objects that are available is really useful when it comes to developing applications rather than having to hunt through the help file.

The PDFs for R6.5 can still be found in the Lotus Technical Documentation for Domino Designer:

Here you will find five PDFs containing objects for LotusScript, Java, and a Formula Language reference.  Hope this helps everyone who develops applications.

IdeaJam - Idea and Innovation Management Software for IBM Lotus Notes and Domino

I think making them available as PDF, SVG and HTML5 would be enough. Don't need to be on paper (there is always the printshop around the corner)
2) Peter Presnell (10 Oct 2009)
Of course now we will need versions for LotusScript, Java, and SSJS and perhaps a client model for JavaScript.
3) Ralph Schaefer (14 Oct 2009)
I totally agree with you. I've been automating M$ Office products for years and the documentation makes it incredibly easy. You mention that diagrams for Notes are available for R6.5, would you mind providing a link? I have not been able to find any decent info at all. Thanks.

One of the best tools I ever had was the old R5 object model posters. Those helped me get up to speed faster than any other piece of documentation. I had the same experience with VB.Net 2005 and the .Net 2.0 framework.

@3 - I never found them as a PDF, and I picked up mine at Lotusphere back in 2006. They are no longer available from the IBM Publications website so you can't order them.

Thanks for all the voting and comments. We're hearing you.
6) Steve Treible (18 Oct 2009)
I updated the post to include the link all the PDFs for R6.5 objects.
7) Bob Harwood (10 Nov 2009)
I have submitted your idea to the Designer ID team for future consideration
8) Bill Malchisky (05 Jan 2010)
@4 I concur...having just coded several years with C and C++, the R5 diagram helped me get the LS object model down and my apps upgraded with new enhancements faster than anything.

@5 Very valuable tools...always kept a set in my cube from '98 (ish) to '07 and brought back a set for the lead developers at my client site each year -- better than a case of Jolt (dating myself here) for getting your app rolled-out faster.

@7 Thank you. Would love to see them at LS10 in the Developers' Lab... :)
