As best as I can tell there are two key differences between the way an NTF and a NSF operate. 1) Scheduled agents will not run in an NTF, and (2) An NTF cannot be viewed in a Web browser. With the push towards doing more Web development (including XPages) it seems to make sense to allow NTFs to be viewed from a browser. Without this ability I find myself creating templates as NSFs which partially negates the whole concept of having NTFs in the first place.

Considering the ACL permissions often used in an .ntf, it's potentially very dangerous to allow web access to it. The normal way is to develop an application using an .nsf, which, when it's ready, is copied over to an .ntf. I fail to see the problem with this handling.

I don't believe this is necessary, but I would like to be able to configure a one-click method of updating a db design from a template so that changes can be tested

This ability used to be there (circa 4.6?), but was removed due to security concerns. And in general, I agree with those concerns as folks don't pay as much attention to NTF ACLs.

Set the "inherit design from" and "is a master template" properties and refresh a db's design from a nsf template.
