This is in response to Ben Langhinrichs' request for book proposals.

A introductory/primer for pre-8.5 Notes application developers and new Notes/Domino developers.  Covers the following:
  • What is Notes and Domino
  • Domino application architecture
  • Using Domino Designer in Eclispe
  • Creating Domino applications
  • Designing forms and adding fields
  • Designing views
  • Designing XPages
  • Programming options
  • Deploying a Domino application

1) Ben Langhinrichs7009 (16 Dec 2010)
While I understand that this is meant to be a primer, my one concern is that it bites off more than can be digested easily in a shorter eBook. I think I'd rather see more depth in a smaller range of focus, but that's me.
2) Paul Della-Nebbia273 (30 Dec 2010)
@Ben ... yes, considering as two seperate topics ...

1) Introduction to Domino Designer 8.5 (for people new to Domino)

2) Introduction to XPages (an XPages primer for existing Notes/Dom developers)
3) Bruce Lill6687 (04 Jan 2011)
Basically this is the Domino Fundamentals course.
I can tell you that new users need to go for XPage or Notes dev and not try to learn both. Xpage dev is web development and it has a different design philosophy. This should cover only what is needed to create views, forms and agents.

Not sure how to change staus but this "eBook" is now done. We delivered in Notes databases as two separate and free courses:

1. Introduction to Domino Designer 8.5 ... { Link }

2. Introduction to XPages Development 8.5 ... { Link }

Cheers,
Paul
