If we want a killer application XPages should access data (read-write) stored in all most popular database: Oracle, SQL Server, My SQL, DB2.
Supporting only DB2 (the major new feature of R7) was not a success factor for Domino Application.
We need to support all the major database.
We need to integrate easily with other platform.
We need an open RAD.

This is already possible using JDBC, but I agree it should be made easier for those who don't know Java that well. Ideally we should have JDBC data sources on an XPage.

yes the native integration with relational database is a wonderful feature!

Definitely a required feature, .NET have LINQ and Ruby have ActiveRecord. Something not bound to an ODBC simplifies the deployment process.

Mark - LINQ is ORM, we could only dream to get something similar in Domino Designer...
