When a summary field exceeds 32K, all hell breaks loose and programmatic remedy is almost impossible.  Any LotusScript operation on such fields fail (ie cannot even remove!).

Replication also fails.  NO REMEDY POSSIBLE :( I believe even formula-based replication fails, as the SELECT throws an error.

This sort of thing happens by bad application design, however remedy needs to be possible once design is amended.

I FOUND A WAY TO REMOVE "32K FIELD ERROR" CORRUPTED DOCUMENTS

1. Create a replica (on Local or another server). In the New Replica dialog, select More Options and add add the following replication formula in the Space Saver tab:

SELECT !@IsError(Body)

Body can be any field in the documents. I haven't tested it but this could probably be even a non-existent field, as any field access probably throws the error.

Create the replica, and it will contain only clean docs. Delete the original replica, and create a new replica from your [local] replica back where it was originally.

I haven't made this happen in ND8. However I'm aware that the Notes client didn't let you exceed the 32k SUMMARY size, and would exclude fields that accumulated up to that limit and save them non-SUMMARY.

If that ain't happening under Notes or even HTTP -- then I'd be reporting it as a possible bug.

In the past I've been able to rewrite fields with errors on them using the "NotesDocumentCollection.Stampall" method. I'd be interested to know.
